Dismuke Wants to Get It Done Early

Feb. 19 -- Talented 2016 safety Marquel Dismuke has seven offers and UCLA could be close...

Calabasas (Calif.) safety Marquel Dismuke was one of the defensive standouts at the B2G 7-on-7 on Monday, showing off good speed and fluidity in coverage. Colleges have already taken notice.

"I have seven offers right now," Dismuke said. "The most recent ones were Michigan and Utah, and I have Arizona State, California, and Utah from the Pac-12."

Dismuke is also hard at work on a couple of local offers. A few weeks ago, he visited USC for the Trojans' Junior Day and he's been to UCLA a couple of times for unofficial visits.

"(The Junior Day) was a good experience, seeing how everything works and all that," Dismuke said. "I wasn't there for a long time because my sister had a birthday party. They didn't really give me a clear picture about when an offer might come.

"I've been talking to UCLA a lot too. They want me to get up to campus soon, and I think they could offer soon. I've already been up there a few times, but I've been talking to Coach (Demetrice Martin) a lot. He's been my main recruiter."

The Trojans were the favorite for Dismuke growing up, but he said that's not going to be a factor in his decision.

"I was a USC fan growing up, but it's not going to be a big deal for me," Dismuke said. "I've got to make my own decision based on what's best for me as a player. I could care less who I rooted for as a kid."

The four-star Dismuke plays both wide receiver and safety but said that all schools are currently recruiting him as a safety.

As for what factors will play into his decision, Dismuke indicated that overall comfort level with his role and the coaching staff will be key.

"I just want to go somewhere I can play where I have a good relationship with the coaching staff," Dismuke said. "I don't care about staying local, and my parents want what's best for me. I'm going to look at everyone. Like with Michigan, that's a really significant offer, and I'm going to look at taking a visit up there soon to see how it could fit me."

Dismuke isn't sure on any other visits yet this spring, but said he plans on taking a good deal, because he'd like to get the process over with as soon as possible and potentially commit before the start of his season.
