UCLA earned an 11 seed in the NCAA Tournament Sunday, a bit of a stunner after many projected the Bruins on the wrong side of the bubble heading into the selection show.

The Bruins will face SMU on Thursday, the Mustangs having won both the regular season and tournament titles in the American Athletic Conference. The game will be played in Louisville, with the game time not yet announced.

SMU is coached by former UCLA coach Larry Brown. The Mustangs are solid on both ends, with a very efficient offense and a nearly equally efficient defense.

This is Steve Alford's second NCAA Tournament appearance in two years as the UCLA coach, having led the Bruins to the Sweet 16 as a 4 seed last season.
