Change For Thompson

Mar. 20 -- Four-star safety Shurod Thompson now says he has no leaders, and a new school has entered the mix...

Brentwood (Calif.) Liberty safety Shurod Thompson (6-1, 195) changed high schools in the past two weeks, but recruiting hasn’t been affected much by it.

Thompson is now at Liberty High School, where he’ll play his senior season.

On the recruiting trail, Thompson has backed away from his early top two of Arizona State and USC and said he’s open.

“USC, Arizona State, Cal and UCLA are after me pretty hard,” said Thompson. “And I’m going up to Oregon next month and I think they may offer me then.”

Thompson is also hoping to visit Boise State, Notre Dame and San Jose State at some point.

Thompson said that UCLA continues to recruit him the hardest.

“Coach Meat (Demetrice Martin)from UCLA is on me the most, and UCLA is recruiting me the hardest,” said Thompson. “I talk to Coach (Chris) Ball at Arizona State a lot and Coach (Keith) Heyward and Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian) are the ones recruiting me at USC. At Cal, the whole staff is recruiting me. Every one of them.”

Thompson said he’ll be playing more corner this year at Liberty.

“I’m playing cornerback this season at Liberty and I’ll show my versatility,” said Thompson. “Schools are recruiting me as a safety, but I’m going to show I can play corner.”
