VIDEO: Alford on Advancing to Sweet 16

Mar. 21 -- Sophomore point guard Bryce Alford talks about what went into the win over UAB...

Bryce Alford talks after the team advanced to the Sweet 16:

On the win:
Its always fun to get a win like that at this stage. It was a good team win. We had five guys in double figures, and its always fun to get a win and get in double figures. Our offense was very efficient today. Balance around the team, our guards make good decisions today.

On the improvement of the team:
Its what you want to have as a team. You aren't going to be the team you want in December. We were young but caught stride in conference.

On playing more off the ball:
It helps keep me loose and keep me fresh. We dont have a whole lot of depth at the guard position so I know I have to be out there for a long time. Giving the ball to Isaac, it helps switch things up. We're different players.

On the Sweet 16 this year:
We were older and more experienced last year and had a lot of talent. We have guys who'd been to the Sweet 16 this year. When you play more games and have teams go on runs, you have to learn from that.

On getting the big men involved:
We didn't do a good job getting Tony involved in the first game.

On UAB's shooting:
They were a good shooting team. We knew that if we could get enough stops, we'd be able to score on them.

On potentially playing Gonzaga:
We had a chance, that was one of our best games. We've really grown and they have too. We know it will be a tough game for either them or the Hawkeyes.
