Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins 2017 running back Greg Johnson (5-11, 183) joined a handful of his Hawkins teammates with B2G and visited UCLA on Saturday.

The four-star already had an offer from the Bruins and had visited unofficially in February but finally got a chance to see them practice over the weekend.

“We went up with B2G and it was pretty cool,” said Johnson. “I saw the DB’s working the receivers and got to watch Coach Meat (Demetrice Martin) coach.”

While Johnson is rated as a running back, UCLA likes him on defense.

“Coach Meat offered me, so I assume they want me as a corner so I watched them,” said Johnson. “He’s a great coach and he’s very energetic. He focused on the corners and takes care of them and teaches them good stuff and works on their technique.”

Johnson said he wants to play defense in college.

“I think I want to play cornerback in college,” said Johnson. “It’s a competitive spot that you have to work hard at, but I love it.”

When Johnson toured the campus for an unofficial visit, he liked what he saw.

“It was cool up there,” said Johnson. “We toured the campus and saw some of the new stuff and they have some cool things being built.”

Johnson took a Midlands swing, visiting SMU, TCU, Baylor and Oklahoma and also checked out a practice at USC last week. And he’ll visit Washington later this month.

With double-digit offers barely halfway through high school, Johnson will take all the time he needs.

“I plan on going over things with my family and coaches and narrowing my list down when I’m a senior but not until then,” said Johnson. “I’m open to going to any school in the nation and I’m not favoring anyone.”

This weekend, he’ll play with B2G in the IMG West Regionals.
