A Few Schools Standing Out to Kemp

Apr. 10 -- Four-star defensive end Carlo Kemp lists the Bruins as one of the schools standing out to him...

Carlo Kemp gets it. Football isn't forever. That may bode well for Stanford, if the Cardinal decides to pull the trigger and extend the four-star DE an offer.

"A lot of schools talk about the importance of being a student-athlete, but Stanford truly means it," Kemp shared. "That's what really stood out to me about my visit out there. Coach Shaw didn't have to sell us on anything. The place speaks for itself. I think it may be one of the few programs in the country that actually puts being a student before being an athlete. As far as competitive football programs, I don't think any other school comes close in both departments."

"Football may last a little while after college. My degree could help me 40 years down the road. Coach Shaw and Stanford really understand that. I really appreciate the emphasis Stanford football puts on educating their guys. I'd love to be a part of that. Hopefully I can land an offer from them this year."

To this point, the offers are stacking up for the four-star DE out of Boulder. He has offers from UCLA, Washington, Kansas State, and Colorado, amongst others. But, he is willing to earn that Stanford offer.

"This offer isn't just handed out," Kemp explained. "I think I really need to jump out on film and then I will hopefully get that offer. I'm really high on the Cardinal football program and an offer would certainly put them at the top. That education is tough to beat. As of now, UCLA and Colorado are a few of the other schools standing out to me. UCLA has built a great relationship with me and my family, and CU is right down the road from me. I definitely think an offer from Stanford would put them in the mix with those two."

It wasn't just the academics that stood out to Kemp. He enjoyed spending time with the coaches, including a few family friends.

"I got to spend some quality time with Stanford's coaches, which was awesome," Kemp claimed. "Coach Shaw is a great man. I think he is building something special out there. I'd love to be apart of it. I also enjoyed spending time with Coach Hart. He is an old friend of my grandfather's and it was cool to spend time with him. My grandpa actually made the trip with my brother, mom, and I. It was a ton of fun. My mom wishes we were still out there."
