Jones Lands UCLA Offer

Hezekiah Jones and the rest of his Team Texas Elite 7v7 team came out to SoCal over the weekend to participate in the IMG 7v7 tournament. On Saturday, most of the team went to check out USC for the Trojans' spring game but Jones visited UCLA and picked up an offer from the Bruins.

"I loved it at UCLA, I had a great visit," Jones said. "They have an amazing campus, it's beautiful there, I love the facilities and I like the coaches a lot as well. They have a great staff that knows what they're talking about and I had a chance to spend a lot of time with Coach Yarber, the WR Coach and like him a lot.

"I got there around 2:00 so I missed practice but caught up with Coach Yarber as he was coming out of a WR meeting. We met and watched my tape together and he said he really liked me and wanted to offer. He said he sees me as a versatile receiver who can play in the slot or outside. I got to talk a little with Coach Mora as well and I like UCLA a lot."

Jones said he has actually been interested in UCLA for awhile.

"I've been high on UCLA since I was a freshman," Jones said. " I just love the environment out here, the L.A scene, I'm real comfortable with it. I'm totally open to leaving the state if it's the best fit for me and my parents are comfortable with that as well.

"Michigan is another out of state school I like a lot. I love the tradition they have, it's a big time football program and I like the coaches a lot. Don't get me wrong, I like the in-state schools too, but I'll go anywhere, just trying to find the right fit.

"The biggest factors for me are academics, a place where I can come in and play early and an environment where I'll be comfortable on and off the field. Basically, I'm just looking for the best combination of football and academics that I can find."

Jones looked very good in the two games we watched him in. He's a smooth route runner, catches the ball very well and has a burst. He has a solid, athletic frame and definitely projects as a national recruit in two years.

In addition to UCLA, Jones has also been offered by Baylor, Houston, Michigan, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas State and Texas Tech.
