VIDEO: Hollins on Versatility

Apr. 22 -- Junior linebacker Deon Hollins talks about his growth as a player this offseason...

Deon Hollins:

On being on the Lott Impact List:
It was a surprise. It means a lot to me, not only does it recognize on field, but it focuses off the field too.

On if he is motivated to make it three straight from UCLA:
Absolutely. We call ourselves LBU now. We have a big weight on our shoulders. The things the guys before us did, Jordan Zumwalt, Anthony Barr, Eric Kendricks. Those guys were phenomenal players. I think collectively we can live up to it.

On his coverage skills:
Coach talked to me about being more of a complete players. That's been a major point of emphasis. Coming out working with Myles and the DBs and the things they look for. Small coverage techniques have been beneficial.

On specific things he worked on:
Its mostly a footwork thing. Getting out, getting out on the ladders. Conditioning also plays a big part. As the game and practice wears on, conditioning helps. Running, sprint for five yards, pace yourselves for 20.

On if the pace helps as a linebacker:
Absolutely. Coach says we're going tempo and thats the Pac-12. Getting abreast of it is a big deal.

On the LB's roles since Bradley arrived:
He's putting much more on us than we're accustomed to. Sometimes I rush, sometimes I dont.
