Burton Still Weighing Options

May 5 -- The four-star athlete doesn't appear close to a decision, but UCLA is doing well with him...

Four-star athlete Brandon Burton has been a face on the 7-on-7 circuit for a couple of years now, and throughout this spring, it seems that he's started to focus more and more on playing receiver, rather than safety, but according to him, he still doesn't have a positional preference.

"Right now, I don't really care where I play in college," Burton said. "I'm just doing what my team needs me to do right now, and I'll do the same in college."

That makes him a good fit for both of the local schools recruiting him, since both USC and UCLA are recruiting him as an athlete.

"Both of them are just saying we'll figure it out once I get into school," Burton said. "I think I can play both receiver and safety at a high level, so I'm fine doing either."

Burton made it out to spring practices for both USC and UCLA, and his visit to UCLA stood out since he came on the first day of pads in April.

"Man, it was very intense," Burton said. "It was the first day in pads, so everyone was hitting. I really enjoyed it. It was great to watch Josh Rosen throw the ball, and to see my guys Jordan Lasley and Dwight Williams."

Burton said that Eric Yarber and Demetrice Martin have both been recruiting him, and they're still fighting over where he'd slot initially if he did come in.

As for other schools involved, Burton was pretty tight-lipped, but he did say that Oklahoma would be coming in to check him out on Monday.

"It's been really calm lately," Burton said. "We're having spring ball soon, so we'll have some schools coming in then. I know on Monday Oklahoma is coming in, and that's a big one for me. They've been on me since Signing Day last year and they like me as safety."

In terms of a decision timeframe, Burton has nothing specific in mind, but knows he wants to take some official visits before deciding.

"I don't think I'll wait until Signing Day," Burton said. "But I do want to go through the process more. I have some ideas about where I'd like to take some official visits, but I'd rather keep it to myself right now in case something changes.
