Rashan Gary earned the spot of the nation's top recruit during an outstanding performance at The Opening 10 months ago, and the five-star defensive tackle from Paramus (N.J.) Catholic earned an invitation to this summer's The Opening Finals.
Gary did it with another dominating performance at The Opening NY/NJ regional and Scout was there to document his reps in the 1-on-1 competition.
He was named the defensive lineman Most Valuable Player, and his combination of explosion, speed, hand quickness and power was all on display as he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.86 seconds.
It is also why he can basically pick whichever school he wants to attend because his scholarship offer list is extraordinary.
Gary is a regular visitor to Rutgers, and this spring he made trips to Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Clemson and South Carolina. Gary also plans on visiting Ole Miss, Auburn and Alabama in the coming weeks (dates should be finalized in the coming days) and he is looking at making visits to Notre Dame, UCLA, USC and possibly Stanford.
In addition, Gary told Scout he would like to cut his list to five schools by the start of his senior season, and then make official visits before announcing his decision.
So why are so many schools fawning over Gary? These one-on-ones give an indication.
