“It was a pretty good visit and they showed me some good things,” said Hamilton. “It was mostly just about me meeting with the coaches. I spent all day with Coach (Eric) Yarber but got to meet Coach (Scott) White, Coach Meat (Demetrice Martin), Coach (Tom) Bradley and Coach (Jim) Mora.”
Arizona State, Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State, Illinois, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV, Utah, Washington State and Wyoming have all offered Hamilton, but he is still waiting for a UCLA offer.
Hamilton did get some clarity of when one might come and where UCLA envisions him playing.
“At first, they liked me as a linebacker but now they’re saying more receiver and that’s what I’m looking forward more to playing in college. I sat down with them and they said they want to see me workout in person and if I did well, they would offer me there in camp. So now I’m trying to figure out which day I’m going, but I’m definitely going to their camp.”
It was the first time Hamilton really got to take a close look at the UCLA campus.
“I loved the campus, it is very beautiful and different than what else I’ve seen in a college,” said Hamilton. “I’ve taken a lot of other visits and their facilities were different from everyone else and they really stood out.”
Hamilton took his brother, an elementary schooler, on the visit with him and said he enjoyed it too.
“My brother loved it up there and he committed for 2024,” joked Hamilton. “It was a late Christmas gift for him. But it was fun getting to spend the day with him up there. If I stayed home for college, I’d be close to my family so that’s what I like about UCLA. That would be the only school I’d go to if I stayed home.”
When summer winds down, so will Hamilton’s list.
“The next step is for me to come up with a top five so we’ll see what happens after the camps,” said Hamilton. “I’m trying to maybe make a decision by the beginning of my season, but I might start taking my official visits first and then decide.”
