Jun. 23 -- The 2017 center is starting to see more recruiting attention coming his way...
One of the top posts on the West Coast in 2017 is 6-foot-8, 210-pound Corona (Calif.) Centennial center Jalen Hill
The long and athletic rising junior is a talented big man who plays pretty hard and is a specialist on defense, where he’s a strong shot blocker and rebounder.
Hill made the USA 16u squad in his first experience with USA Basketball and while he’s happy with the way he played, he’ll head back to Southern California motivated to keep improving.
“I’m pretty happy because I’m hustling more than I used to,” Hill said. “I feel like I’ve expanded on my ability.
“I know that there’s a lot I still need to work on. I don’t think I’m currently the guy that I’m basing my future on but that’s good; I’ll keep getting better.”
Scout’s 33rd ranked overall prospect in 2017 and 10th rated center, Hill’s offer list includes Arizona
, Arizona State
, California, Kansas State
, New Mexico
, New Mexico State
Hill recently picked up an offer from Arizona, which has been paying him a lot of attention since.
“Arizona just recently offered me so they’re recruiting me hard but all of the schools which have offered are recruiting me hard,” Hill said.
“I like how (Arizona) communicates with me. I call them up and they always want to talk. That’s good for every college. I’m not always wanting to talk about basketball; we talk about wanting to be a better a person too.”
Another school that the four-star prospect has heard a lot from is UCLA.
“They’re doing well,” Hill said. “It’s a really big school and has a reputation for sending players to the league.”
Going somewhere where he has a close relationship with the coaching staff is important to Hill.
“Whatever school I go to, I want to make sure the coaches are people I want to be around,” he said.
Hill said that he doesn’t have any visits planned and is still very open in his recruitment.
“I want to focus more on my skill set before I focus on colleges,” Hill said.
