The Opening: Devin Duvernay Evaluation

Jul. 15 -- Scout breaks down The Opening performance of the top-rated Texas wide receiver...

Devin Duvernay was recently elevated to the No. 1 wide receiver in the state of Texas, and he put up some monster numbers in testing.
Speed is the name of his game and it is clearly evident that he has plenty of that as he posted a 4.32 40-yard dash, beating his 4.38 time at the Dallas Nike Camp.

He is not the tallest receiver, but is great in space with the ball in his hands.

At the beginning of 7v7 action Duvernay was not getting his hands on a lot of balls, but moments after filming the player breakdown (video below) he began to be targeted more by his quarterbacks.

In a second round game he stepped up when the pressure was on and hauled in the game-winning touchdown catch to advance his team deeper into the tournament.

In total, he was about what we expected him to be coming into this event.

He will be in a perpetual battle with Navasota's Tren'Davian Dickson for the honor of being the top-rated receiver in the Lone Star State.

On the recruiting front, schools like LSU, Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA and a myriad of others are in the running.
