OCALA, FL.---One rising junior out of the Sunshine State that's really starting to generate some chatter on the recruiting trail is Ameer Speed, a cornerback out of Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandalwood who's equipped with elite size in the secondary at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds.
West Virginia, Colorado, Florida International and Charlotte have dished out verbal scholarship offers, while the likes of Georgia, Wake Forest and Georgia Southern continue to monitor Speed's progression with the 2015-16 campaign on the horizon.
The lengthy defender plays with physicality when lining up in press-man coverage, and is just a smooth athlete with a significant amount of untapped potential moving forward. With his intriguing size and range in the secondary, Speed could eventually find a home in the back end at free safety.
