Wilson Says UCLA Leads

Jul. 21 -- The three-star tight end out of Tennessee could make an early decision...

Three-star Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell tight end Jordan Wilson took a visit to UCLA last Friday and walked away with an offer -- and a new leader.

"It was a great visit," Wilson said. "I got to take a campus tour, a facilities tour, sit down and watch some film with Coach Eric Yarber. Toward the end, we were just watching film and then he made it known that he thinks I can fit well in their offense, and he just informed me that I officially had an offer."

It was pretty clearly a meaningful offer for the big receiver.

"It was a very big offer in my mind," Wilson said. "UCLA kind of fits all the criteria that I want in a school so I'd probably say it's at the top. They're probably the leader for me right now."

UCLA has been recruiting Wilson for about a month, and this was his first trip out to Los Angeles.

"It was a lot of fun being in Los Angeles," Wilson said. "We went to In-N-Out Burger and Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, which were both really good. I did a campus tour, and the overall setup of campus is very nice. It's not too big and not too small, and I like that about it."

UCLA is recruiting him more as a Y-receiver than as a traditional tight end, though Wilson feels he has the ability to do either.

"To be honest, I can play either one, in-line or flexed out," Wilson said. "Just their Y position, it's so versatile. But yeah, we watched a bunch of film from last year and just how the tight end is involved in the run game and the passing game as well."

Wilson said UCLA fit all the criteria he's looking for in picking a school.

"I'm just looking for a place that I can be comfortable and happy with going to the school itself," Wilson said. "Also, playing time early. And then just most of all a great education, which UCLA definitely has."

Other schools in the mix for Wilson are Louisville, Missouri, West Virginia and Oklahoma State. He has another unofficial visit set up for this weekend.

"I'll be at Florida this weekend," Wilson said. "I haven't been there, so it's just a trip for me to see the school itself and the campus."

With a stated leader and only one more unofficial visit left that he's sure he'll take, Wilson is pretty ready to get his recruitment over with.

"I want to get a commitment in before the season starts," Wilson said. "I'm not really sure on a date right now, but I'm definitely trying to get that done soon. Sometime before the end of August."
