QuickTake: Rahyme Johnson is a Bruin

Jul. 24 -- UCLA landed their first commitment out of the class of 2017 earlier today when Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian athlete Rahyme Johnson announced for the Bruins...

Rahyme Johnson is one of the top prospects out of the class of 2017 and is currently rated the No. 189 player in the Scout 300.

He’s rated as an athlete and plays receiver and safety at the H.S level but will play outside linebacker for UCLA. He’s already 6-4, 210 pounds and has a college body right now. It’s not hard to envision him playing at around 240-250 pounds in a few years and should be very good coming off the edge.

Although it’s still very early in the process, Johnson’s commitment looks very solid. He has developed a strong relationship with Bruin LB coach Scott White and said his commitment was about more than just football. Location as well as academics played a big role here.

Johnson committed to the Bruins over offers from Utah, Washington and Washington State. Here's more on his commitment to UCLA.
