Akeem Ayers, LB, St. Louis Rams, 2011-Pres.
Status: Signed with the Rams this year. In a position battler for the starting OLB spot with Jo-Lonn Dunbar.
Anthony Barr, LB, Minnesota Vikings, 2014-Pres.
Status: Didn’t come in to camp completely healthy but should be fine. Expected to make a leap in his development and be a pro bowl level linebacker.
Malcolm Bunche, OL, Philadelphia Eagles, Rookie
Status: Having a nice camp and has a good shot to make the team at guard. Chip Kelly recently said of Bunche “He’s a real good young prospect. He can move people. He’s a guy to keep an eye on.”
David Carter, DT, Jacksonville Jaguars, 2011-Pres.
Status: Signed 1-year deal this past summer. Didn’t make a squad in 2014 and will have a battle to make the Bear’s roster. Fun side note, but Carter is a Vegan. How many Vegan DTs can there be?
Nate Chandler, OT, Carolina Panthers, 2012-Pres.
Status: Projected to be the backup right tackle. Tore his meniscus towards the end of 2014.
Derrick Coleman, RB, Seattle Seahawks, 2013-Pres.
Status: Battling a recent hamstring injury but, if and when healthy, expected to be on the 53-man roster and continue his spot duty at RB and key role in special teams.
Shaquelle Evans, WR, New York Jets, 2014-Pres.
Status: Has had a good camp thus far. Recently suffered a minor rib injury but should be back soon. In a battle to make the roster but a good chance he makes the practice squad.
Joseph Fauria, TE, Detroit Lions, 2013-Pres.
Status: Recently suffered a minor injury (undisclosed). Battling for the third-string TE spot. Will likely make roster and continue role as red zone specialist.
Kai Forbath, K, Washington Redskins, 2011-Pres.
Status: Was presumed starter going into camp but has struggled and now is battling for the starting kicking duties.
Cory Harkey, TE, St. Louis Rams , 2012-Pres.
Status: Started 13 games last year as a tight end/H-back. Mostly a blocking TE but also excels on special teams. Will be a large part of the club’s plans and is one of Coach Fisher’s favorite players.
Mike Harris, OL, Minnesota Vikings, 2012-Pres.
Status: Moved to guard from tackle and is currently listed as a starter on the depth chart.
Aaron Hester, DB, Kansas City Chiefs, 2014-Pres.
Status: Has bounced around a few camps since college. Has a decent shot to make the Chiefs roster.
Brett Hundley, QB, Green Bay Packers, Rookie
Status: Has struggled in camp. Has shown glimpses however, in “instinctual” situations. Seems to be swimming right now and isn’t currently a factor for the backup QB position.
Anthony Jefferson, DB, Chicago Bears, Rookie
Status: In camp as a safety. Has had moments and will have to sweat out roster cuts.
Datone Jones, DL, Green Bay Packers, 2013-Present
Status: Datone was suspended for the first game of the season for a violation of the substance use policy of the NFL. There is speculation that it was marijuana. He will have to improve his performance noticeably to emerge beyond a situational pass rusher.
Eric Kendricks, LB, Minnesota Vikings, Rookie(Pictured Above)
Status: Very good chance he starts at MLB. Has shown in the NFL the same great instincts he had at UCLA. The coaching staff is very excited about him.
Marcedes Lewis, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars, 2006-Pres.
Status: The Jaguars signed Julius Thomas this off season and Marcedes will slide to 2nd string but will still play a major role.
Jeff Locke, P, Minnesota Vikings, 2013-Pres.
Status: Currently starting at punter for the Vikings. Struggled last year and will be monitored closely.
Cassius Marsh, DE/LB, Seattle Seahawks, 2014-Pres.
Status: Has excelled in camp and has carved out a spot in the rotation as pass rushing specialist at DE. The Seahawks are pretty loaded at DE (Michael Bennett & Cliff Avril). The eventual plan is to move Marsh to OLB.
Kevin McDermott, LS, Minnesota Vikings, 2013-Pres.
Status: Trying to beat out 12-year veteran Cullen Loeffler for long snapper roster position. Too close to call.
Rahim Moore, S, Houston Texans, 2011-Pres.
Status: Listed as starting safety.
Owa Odighizuwa, DE, New York Giants, Rookie
Status: Jason Pierre-Paul’s accident has created an immediate opportunity for Owa. The feedback so far is “raw but talented.” Moving to a 4-3 from a 3-4 has also added to adjustment time for Owa.
Logan Paulsen, TE, Washington Redskins, 2010-Pres.
Status: Dealing with a minor toe injury but firmly planted in the rotation at TE. Has become a very good blocker and occasional receiver.
Sheldon Price, DB, Indianapolis Colts, 2010-Pres.
Status: Sheldon has mostly been on the practice squad for the Colts for the past two seasons. He is currently fighting for a spot on the 53-man roster.
Matt Slater, KR, New England Patriots, 2008-Pres.
Status: Continues to be a very good special teams player.
Xavier Su’a-Filo, OL, Houston Texans, 2014-Pres.
Status: Began camp as starting guard. Has been passed on the depth chart by Jeff Adams (claimed off waivers). Has struggled with his conditioning and overall play.
Alterraun Verner, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 2009-Pres.
Status: Coming off a disappointing 2014, Verner has had a very solid camp thus far.
Jordan Zumwalt, LB, Pittsburgh Steelers, 2014-Pres.
Status: Facing an uphill battle to secure a roster spot. He’s been unable to keep weight on and has not been effective in coverage.
