UCLA's Nathan Meadors on First Fall Camp

Aug. 18 -- The true freshman talks about what his expectations are for this season...

Nathan Meadors:

On feeling like a veteran:
I kind of do but I still have a lot of stuff to work on. As we go through camp, we'll be fine.

On the offseason:
It really helped me working out a lot. Tried to get my wind up. I knew it would be a struggle, but I'm working at it.

On the biggest transition to college:
Just the different techniques and the high level competition we're playing. We have some great receivers so being able to get the playbook down, when I get it down, I'll be fine.

On his chances to play as a true freshman:
That was the whole reason I came in spring, to get a better edge. Better for me so I could play as a true freshman. I think I'm doing pretty well. Once I get all the plays down, I'll be good.

On helping the other freshman:
So far, I know a little more than them, but I'm right there with them trying to get better and better.

On the rise since being lightly recruited going in to his senior year:
It's surreal. I had a couple offers before my senior season. UCLA was my dream school and I worked hard. Now I'm trying to make the best of it.

On what he's worked on specifically:
Pretty much man-to-man. I was really in the playbook and trying to get bigger and faster.

On Sal Alosi's offseason program:
Coach Sal had us working. I've gained about 10 pounds since the spring. If I do the same, I'll be fine. My speed is still the same, no slowness over here.
