UCLA in Top Two For Damian Alloway

Aug. 25 -- Is Fontana (Calif.) Summit wideout Damian Alloway still planning to make a summer decision?

The last time we caught up with Damian Alloway, back in early July, he was planning to visit Notre Dame and then make a decision shortly after returning home. The Irish are still high on his board but it doesn’t look like a decision is imminent.

“I just couldn’t do it, I couldn’t make a decision and didn’t want to rush it,” Alloway said. “The Notre Dame visit was incredible and I loved the campus and atmosphere. You just get a different feeling at Notre Dame with the tradition and academics.

“I like how they would use me as well. They said they need a slot receiver with some speed who can open things up and feel I could be that guy for them so there are a lot of pluses with Notre Dame for sure.”

When Alloway got home, UCLA, the local favorite, was still fresh in his head.

“I really like UCLA and love living in Southern California,” Alloway said. “When I got home from Notre Dame, I was still buzzing about the trip but also thinking how great it felt to be home.

“I’m really close to the coaches at UCLA, they have been recruiting me for a long time. I’ve been talking with Coach Yarber, Coach Mora and Coach Martin for a long time now and a degree from UCLA is a pretty big deal too.”

So rather than make a quick decision, Alloway said he plans to take a few official visits and locked in one with the Irish for (Oct. 17) when they host USC.

“Notre Dame is set in stone and I’m close to setting one with Wisconsin for (Sept. 26),” Alloway said. “I’m also looking to set one with Washington and Arizona State as well. Washington is kind of a new school for me but Sean McGrew and Camilo Eifler have been hitting me up about visiting so I’m looking in to it.

“ASU has always been on my list and it would be fun to check them out and if I take a 5th visit, it will be to California. I plan on going to as many UCLA games as I can and I know I can visit their campus anytime as well so I don’t need to do an official there. Right now, I don’t have a timeframe for a decision, it will just be whenever I feel 100% but Notre Dame and UCLA are definitely my top two right now.”
