Martin Andrus is one of the elite prospects in the 2017 class and is currently rated the No. 36 player in the nation.
When looking at Andrus' sophomore film from a year ago, he reminded us a lot of former Crenshaw/Cal and current Seattle Seahawk DT Brandon Mebane. He shows a great get off, is strong with his hands and can get up the field. For a big man, he can move, change direction and run down plays from behind and is strong at the point of attack.
On the recruiting front, Andrus has offers from UCLA, USC, Utah, Washington and Washington State and landed another one from the Pac 12 on Wednesday.
"I jsut got offered by Stanford," Andrus said Wednesday night. "I talked to Coach Hart and Coach Bloomgren, I think it was Coach Bloom who gave me the offer. This one is big for me because it means I'm not only handling my business on the field but also in the classroom.
"I've never visited Stanford before but I'm going to try and get out there in the fall for a game and see the campus. I'll be going to some UCLA and USC games too but I haven't decided where I'll be this weekend yet."
In addition to the Cardinal, Andrus said he also heard from USC (Wilson), UCLA (McClure) and Washington (Kwiatkowski) this week.
"I'm not planning to make a decision any time soon," Andrus said. "I think I'm just going to wait until Signing Day so I have a long time to go. Right now, I'm just going to focus on my team and worry about recruiting later on.
"I'm open to everyone honestly. I liked UCLA early on and then USC offered and now I don't have any favorites. I'm going to play this out and take my time to make sure I'm doing the right thing."
