Prospect Recap: Week Six

Oct. 5 -- We look at how UCLA prospects did in week six of the high school football season...

***Game of the Week:*** La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat def. Encino (Calif.) Crespi, 49-7

UCLA had commits on both teams but it was new Bruin commit Chris Gaston, who had five tackles, who's team got the upper hand in a 42-point win . Crespi running back and UCLA commit Jalen Starks was cleared to play this week but didn't.  2018 quarterback Hamish McClure threw a late touchdown in the loss for the Celts.

Gardena (Calif.) Serra def. Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame, 35-20

UCLA verbal Oluwole Betiku had seven tackles including two for loss and a sack while two-way athlete Brandon Burton had seven tackles and an interception in the win.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola def. West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade, 31-13

Chaminade quarterback/receiver Dymond Lee, a UCLA commit, was 5-for 12 for 54 yards passing and caught two passes for 25 yards in the loss. Loyola's 2017 running back Drake Beasley, who was offered by UCLA last week, had 123 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly def. Long Beach (Calif.) Cabrillo, 73-7

The Jackrabbits got nearly 100 all-purpose yards from Jack Jones and two tackles and 2017 linebacker Joshua Brown, Jayon's younger brother had 15 tackles, two for loss and an interception.

Broomfield (Colo.) Legacy def. Westminster (Colo.) Mountain Range, 42-14

Legacy and UCLA quarterback commit Matt Lynch threw for 228 yards and three touchdowns and was 14-for-18 for 228 yards. He added nearly 30 yards rushing and a score.

Yucaipa (Calif.) def. Rialto (Calif.) Carter, 20-18

UCLA verbal Lokeni Toailoa had eleven tackles, with two for a loss, and added a three-yard touchdown while his brother Leni Toailoa, added six tackles, two pass breakups and a forced fumble in the loss.

Portland (Ore.) David Douglas def. Gresham (Ore.) Barlow, 27-13

UCLA commit Osa Odighizuwa and Douglas had a great defensive performance and earned their win of the year.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward def. Lancaster (Calif.) McAuliffe, 15-14

2016 four-star commit Breland Brandt and Windward extended their winning streak to four games.

Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West def. Fresno (Calif.) Edison, 21-0

Clovis West and UCLA verbal Darian Owens had a touchdown in Clovis West's shutout win over Edison.

Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue (QC) John Abbot College and UCLA kicker commit J.J. Molson lost Valleyfield (QC), 35-15. Kapolei (Hawaii) and UCLA committed offensive lineman Sean Auwae topped Aiea (Hawaii), 16-6. Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More and UCLA punter commit Bailey Raborn beat Hahnville (La.) Boute, 52-12. Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral and 2017 safety commit Rhedi Short trounced Los Angeles (Calif.) Verbum Dei, 66-0.  Covington (Ga.) Newton and UCLA 2017 linebacker commit Jaquan Henderson beat Tucker (Ga.), 37-20.

Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty and UCLA linebacker commit Krys Barnes were on a bye.  Temecula (Calif.) Great Oak and UCLA receiver commit Demetric Felton had a bye.  Westlake (Calif.) receiver Theo Howard had a bye. The Trinity League were all on a bye.  Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins with UCLA targets Jalen HallJoseph Lewis and Greg Johnson had a bye.  Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian and UCLA commit Rahyme Johnson had a bye.
