JohnCarlo Valentin already made official visits to Arizona State and Oklahoma, and while he is sorting through which others he will visit, he said UCLA will "definitely" be one of his final three trips.
The Philadelphia Imhotep offensive guard said he continues to speak regularly with many of the schools on his radar, including Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Wisconsin, South Carolia, North Carolina State, Michigan, Wake Forest and Pittsburgh.
"I'm pretty much still looking at every school," Valentin said. "There are at least 20 schools I'm still in communication with. I (direct message) with many of the coaches every day. I think there are coaches who want me more than other coaches."
Valentin declined to say which schools, in particular, were showing the most interest, but he did say he speaks regularly with is UCLA.
He added he has a strong relationship with Bruins offensive line coach Adrian Klemm, and the two communicate daily.
"UCLA is probably one of my front-runners," Valentin said. "I definitely plan on taking an official visit there but I am not sure when. It's all about timing.
"I talk to coach Klemm every day. They have a lot going on. It would be different for me going out to the West Coast and seeing what it is like there, but I am interested in checking them out."
Like Valentin said after his Arizona State official visit a few weeks ago, he said the Bruins' approach to offense reminds him of Imhotep.
"The offense is very similar to us," Valentin said. "They are up-tempo and play fast. I think the Pac-12, in general, is very similar to us."
When and where Valentin makes his next official visit remains uncertain.
Most of Imhotep's games are on Fridays, but the season could push into mid December if the Panthers, No. 50 in the Scout High School Football Top 50, make a deep run into the playoffs.
"I am at the point where I don't know where I will visit," Valentin said. "At this time last year I had three offers or so. Things have changed so much. It is really amazing."
