Prospect Recap: Week Seven

Oct. 12 -- We look at how UCLA prospects did in week six of the high school football season...

***Game of the Week:*** Gardena (Calif.) Serra def. La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat, 41-38

UCLA commit Oluwole Betiku had six tackles, two for loss and a sack and UCLA recruit Brandon Burton had three receptions for 103 yards, including a pair of touchdown receptions and added eight tackles and Serra held on for a three-point win over Amat. UCLA commit Chris Gaston had four tackles for Bishop Amat.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola def. Encino (Calif.) Crespi, 35-6

With UCLA commits Jalen Starks and Marcus Moore out with injuries, Crespi floundered against Loyola and the Cubs rolled to a 29-point win. 2017 running back Drake Beasley, who UCLA offered earlier this month, had two touchdowns and UCLA cornerback recruit Myles Bryant had an 81-yard punt return, 10 tackles and a touchdown reception.

West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade def. Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany, 43-40

Chaminade quarterback/receiver Dymond Lee, a UCLA commit, threw a 19-yard touchdown pass with eight seconds left to help Chaminade stun Alemany. Lee added a two-point conversion pass for the final points. On the game, Lee was 9-for-20 for 178 yards with two touchdown passes while throwing three interceptions.

Broomfield (Colo.) Legacy def. Fort Collins (Colo.) Poudre, 34-15

Legacy and UCLA quarterback commit Matt Lynch was 21-for-33 for 252 yards and tossed two touchdown passes and he ran for 27 yards and two scores in the win.

Los Angeles (Calif.) def. Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw, 28-26

In a homecoming of sorts, former UCLA receiver and Bruin receivers coach Eric Scott took his LA High squad to his alma mater, Crenshaw, and stunned the Cougars by two. Bruin target Martin Andrus helped the LA defense neutralize Crenshaw's offense, and LA was able to keep Bruin commit Marquis Lawson out of the end zone.

Rialto (Calif.) Carter def. Redlands (Calif.) Citrus Valley, 28-19

Carter, with UCLA verbal Lokeni Toailoa and his brother Leni Toailoa, one of UCLA's newest commit, got back to their winning ways when they topped Citrus Valley. Lokeni rushed for 75 yards on 13 carries and scored a touchdown and chipped in eight tackles. Leni had four tackles, three for a loss, and blocked a kick in the win.

North Hollywood (Calif.) Campbell Hall def. Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward, 14-7

2016 four-star commit Breland Brandt was doubled and triple teamed all game but still had a sack and forced a fumble in a loss.

Westlake (Calif.) def. Lancaster (Calif.) Paraclete, 49-28

In a matchup of two Scout 300 prospects on each side, Westlake and Bruin target Theo Howard got the upper hand on Melquise Stovall. Howard had six catches for 121 yards and a touchdown and San Diego State commit Chase Jasmin ran for 174 yards and three touchdowns in the Warriors' win. Stovall had a touchdown run in the loss

Fresno (Calif.) Clovis North vs. Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West

Clovis West and UCLA verbal Darian Owens as well as five-star linebacker Caleb Kelly fell to North. The five-star linebacker Kelly had two touchdown receptions in the loss.

Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta def. Temecula (Calif.) Great Oak, 27-17

UCLA commit Demetric Felton and Great Oak dropped their league game to Vista Murrieta, though Felton had a touchdown run in the loss and played some Wildcat quarterback.

Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty def. Bakersfield (Calif.) Frontier, 49-17

UCLA commit Krys Barnes helped Liberty get a win, recording nearly 15 tackles in the blowout of crosstown foe Frontier.

Kapolei (Hawaii) def. Castle (Hawaii), 41-0

UCLA pledge Sean Auwae and the Kapolei offensive line steamrolled Castle in a 41-point shutout win. Kapolei had 539 yards in offense in the win.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral def. Pasadena (Calif.) La Salle, 56-17

UCLA commit Rhedi Short had two tackles, one for loss and forced two fumbles in a drubbing of La Salle.

Troutdale (Ore.) Reynolds def. Portland (Ore.) David Douglas, 65-58

UCLA defensive line coach Angus McClure was in town to watch UCLA verbal Osa Odighizuwa, who had two sacks, but the Douglas defense couldn't stop Reynolds late and fell in overtime.

Concord (Calif.) De La Salle def. Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley, 48-0

UCLA head coach Jim Mora joined McClure to see De La Salle prospects Devin Asiasi and Boss Tagaloa. The Spartans shut out San Ramon Valley, 48-0. Asiasi had a 16-yard reception and added five tackles, one for a loss, in the shutout.

Hayward (Calif.) Moreau Catholic and long snapper commit Johnny Den Bleyker def. Fremont (Calif.) Kennedy, 34-0. Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell Academy and UCLA tight end commit Jordan Wilson lost 48-14 to Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy. Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue (QC) John Abbot College and UCLA kicker commit J.J. Molson def. Lanaudiere (QC), 56-28. Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More and UCLA punter commit Bailey Raborn beat Arnaudville (La.) Beau Chene, 70-0. Covington (Ga.) Newton and UCLA 2017 linebacker commit Jaquan Henderson beat Covington (Ga.) Alcovy, 47-0.
