VIDEO: Kenny Clark on Run Defense Issues

Oct. 16 -- Nose tackle Kenny Clark talks about the backbreaking 3rd down conversions and the overall run defense...

Kenneth Clark talked after Stanford.

On Christian McCaffrey:

He's a good running back, he runs hard.  He gets behind the big guys they've got and he found some open holes and did pretty good.

On their 3rd and long conversions:

They were amazing plays by amazing players. Those plays were crazy, those 3rd and 15s. We have to come back from those. He's a great player and makes great throws.

On Stanford's long drives:

You have to execute and fight. We knew Stanford it would be a slug fight. You have to keep fighting.  They do a good job with time of possession.

On if they can be the same defense from earlier in the year:

Yeah, we have to keep meshing together and keep working and have our coaches put us in the right position.

On if injuries are hurting them:

Honestly, we just have to play great defense. Its nothing about the injuries, we have great players. We can be good, we can be great. All we have to do is keep working. We have to keep fighting and be great.

On Stanford's jumbo packages:

Those jumbo packages they had, we tried to match their personnel.  Those jumbo packages, its really a bang-bang play.  The D-Line is shooting the gap, the O-Line is shooting. The RB is jumping over the pile. The linebackers have to jump in and fill in.

On why Stanford has success against them:

I feel like they don't beat themselves. We had a lot of penalties, we couldn't get off the field on third down. They did well on special teams. They don't beat themselves.  We have to shore up the penalties and keep working.
