Cavalier defensive end Oluwole Betiku committed over the summer to UCLA but will take his official visits to be sure of his decision.
He was in College Station over the weekend to check out Texas A&M and the Aggies made a big impression.
"It was a grreat visit, I loved it," Betiku said. "I loved the football atmosphere there and how passionate everyone is about the team. The crowd was great and very supportive. It was similar that way to Florida State, both schools have a lot of tradition and love football, at A&M, it feels like everything there is about Aggie football, it's the biggest thing there.
"Everyone was very friendly and it felt like home there. College Station is obviously different than being home in Los Angeles but I was very comfortable there. I loved the people and how everyone welcomed me. The players on the team were great as well and I have a really good relationship wiht Coach Price.
"He's a great DL coach but more than that, he's a great guy. Everyone always wanted to be around him, not just the defensive linemen, every position player. Everyone I talked with said Coach Price is the man there and he'll take care of you and I definitely feel like he could get the most out of me and help get me to the NFL."
With Betiku, a big part if not the biggest part of his final decision will come down to the defensive scheme and how he'll be used.
"A&M runs a 4-3 defense and that's what I like," Betiku said. "They see me as a pass rushing defensive end and would use me in the same way they use Myles Garrett. I actually got to talk with Myles for about an hour and he told me all about A&M, what he likes, why he decided to go there and how happy he is with his decision.
"He was telling me that if you come in with the mindset of working hard and focusing on getting better every day, you'll have success there. He said the SEC is where the best defensive linemen are at and that's why he decided to make that choice. He wanted to challenge himself and compete against the best and he said it has definitely paid off for him and he loves it there."
Betiku said his next visit will be to Notre Dame (Nov. 14) and he's looking at visiting Florida as well.
"All of my visits have been great so far and that's why I wanted to take them, to make sure I'm making the right decision," Betiku said. "I'm still committed to UCLA but I'm giving all these schools a fair shot. This is a big decision for me so I'm sincerely open to all the schools that are recruiting me.
"Notre Dame is a great school and I like what I've seen from Florida. I'm keeping that last visit open right now but LSU is another school that I'm considering. After I take all my visits, I'll sit back and re-evaluate everything. Academics are important as well as where I'm comfortable with the coaching staff and of course, where I think I can have the best chance to make it to the NFL, that's the ultimate goal."
