***Game of the Week:*** La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat def. West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade, 30-22
Another Mission League game featuring UCLA commits on each squad. Bishop Amat saw Bruin commit Chris Gaston suffer an undisclosed injury, but it doesn't appear to be serious. Chaminade quarterback/receiver Dymond Lee, a UCLA commit, was 19-for-31 for 178 yards and two touchdown passes, but it wasn't enough to beat the Lancers. Sophomore four-star running back T.J. Pledger had 133 yards in total offense for the Eagles.
Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw def. Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins, 51-34
With UCLA head coach Jim Mora in attendance to see one commit on Crenshaw and a host of prospects on Hawkins, it was longtime City power Crenshaw keeping order with the win over the fledgling Hawkins program. Crenshaw athlete and UCLA verbal Marquis Lawson scored two touchdowns through the air and neared 200 all-purpose yards in the 17-point win over Hawkins.
Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola def. Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany, 24-21
New UCLA 2017 running back offer holder Drake Beasley went over the 200-yard mark with 215 yards and a touchdown run to help the Cubs stay alive in the Mission League race. UCLA target Myles Bryant had 10 tackles, one for a loss and a sack for the Cubs while David Long averaged 22 yards a reception for Loyola. Alemany 2018 four-star quarterback Brevin White was 12-of-20 for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
Long Beach (Calif.) Poly def. Lakewood (Calif.), 35-21
The Jackrabbits trailed early but rallied to beat Lakewood by 14. Florida State commit Malik Henry had his best game at Poly, going 22-for-33 for 359 yards and four touchdowns, 10 of those completions going to five-star Jack Jones, who had 186 yards receiving and two touchdowns. UCLA 2017 linebacker prospect Joshua Brown had eight tackles, two for loss and a sack.
Concord (Calif.) De La Salle def. Loomis (Calif.) Del Oro, 41-3
De La Salle tight end Devin Asiasi had a 16-yard catch, rushed for four yards and added three tackles while defensive tackle Boss Tagaloa had five tackles and a fumble recovery in limited action in De La Salle's blowout win over Del Oro.
Rialto (Calif.) Carter def. Rialto (Calif.) Eisenhower, 67-0
Carter, with UCLA verbal Lokeni Toailoa and his brother Leni Toailoa, one of UCLA's newest commit, helped Carter blow out and shutout crosstown foe Eisenhower. Leni rushed for a touchdown while Lokeni had six tackles, one for a loss, and forced a fumble.
La Canda (Calif.) St. Francis def. Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral, 31-14
St. Francis got 40 yards rushing and six tackles from Bruin recruit Tre Polamalu in their 17-point win over Cathedral. Cathedral safety Rhedi Short, one of UCLA's 2017 verbals, had six tackles and a pass breakup in the loss.
Westlake (Calif.) def. Moorpark (Calif.), 25-21
A fourth quarter touchdown helped Westlake top Moorpark and stay unbeaten in Marmonte League play. Four-star receiver Theo Howard had four catches for 68 yards and a touchdown catch.
Temecula (Calif.) Great Oak def. Temecula (Calif.) Valley, 35-14
UCLA commit Demetric Felton and Great Oak cruised to a three-touchdown win over Valley, thanks to another monster game from Felton. The four-star UCLA commit had 228 yards rushing on 26 carries and scored three touchdowns on the ground while adding a 15-yard screen pass for a touchdown.
Broomfield (Colo.) Legacy def. Louisville (Colo.) Monarch, 30-14
Legacy and UCLA quarterback commit Matt Lynch rolled to a win over Monarch with a big second half. Lynch threw two touchdown passes on 12-of-22 passing for 108 yards and added 14 yards on the ground in the win.
Portland (Ore.) David Douglas and UCLA defensive end commit Osa Odighizuwa rolled Gresham (Ore., 38-14. Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame def. Encino (Calif.) Crespi and UCLA defensive end commit Marcus Moore, 63-35. Santa Fe Springs (Calif.) St. Paul topped Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian and UCLA verbal Rahyme Johnson, 24-17. Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West and UCLA commit Darian Owens beat Fresno (Calif.) Clovis East, 39-26. Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty and UCLA linebacker commit Krys Barnes rolled Bakersfield (Calif.) Garces, 45-9. Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue (QC) John Abbot College and UCLA kicker commit J.J. Molson trounced Beauce-Appalaches (QC), 37-6. Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More and UCLA punter commit Bailey Raborn lost to Lafayette (La.) Teurlings Catholic, 42-28. Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell Academy and UCLA tight end commit Jordan Wilson beat Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor, 35-21. Covington (Ga.) Newton and UCLA 2017 linebacker commit Jaquan Henderson edged Lovejoy (Ga.), 16-13. Portland (Ore.) David Douglas and UCLA defensive end commit Osa Odighizuwa rolled Gresham, 38-14.
