UCLA Prospect Preview: Week Ten

Oct. 30 -- Check out where UCLA prospects will be playing this weekend throughout the country...

***Game of the Week:*** Portland (Ore.) David Douglas vs. Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic

In a rare prep game in Oregon with Pac-12 commits on both teams, UCLA commit Osa Odighizuwa will lead David Douglas on both sides of the ball against Oregon commit Brady Breeze, also a two-way player plus three-star two-way lineman Tobe Okafor.  Oregon commit Lamar Winston is uncertain to play after suffering a leg injury earlier in the season.

Broomfield (Colo.) Legacy vs. Boulder (Colo.) Fairview

Two of Colorado’s top prospects, one on offense and one on defense, lead their teams in a game for the No. 2 seed and an outside shot at a shared title.  Legacy and UCLA quarterback commit Matt Lynch will meet Fairview, who’s top prospect is four-star defensive end Carlo Kemp.

West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade vs. Encino (Calif.) Crespi

Another Mission League game featuring UCLA commits on each squad. Chaminade quarterback/receiver Dymond Lee, a UCLA commit, will lead the Eagles against the Lancers and 2018 running back T.J. Pledger gives the Eagles playmaking ability out of the backfield. Crespi running back and UCLA commit Jalen Starks was dismissed from the team two weeks ago. That keeps the pressure on 2018 quarterback Hamish McClure, the son of UCLA defensive line coach Angus McClure. Crespi defensive end and Bruin commit Marcus Moore, is hoping to be back this week.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola vs. Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame

Loyola, with Stanford commit David Long and UCLA target Myles Bryant, as well as new 2017 running back offeree Drake Beasley, continue to plug along this season.  Notre Dame has three-star running back Leo Lambert.

Gardena (Calif.) Serra vs. Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany

Alemany features 2018 four-star quarterback Brevin White, the son of a UCLA grad and the brother of ASU freshman quarterback Brady White.  Serra boasts UCLA targets in safety/receiver Brandon Burton and defensive end Oluwole Betiku.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw vs. Los Angeles (Calif.) Locke

Crenshaw and UCLA verbal Marquis Lawson as well as Washington State pledge Derek Moore take on Locke as they try to stay alive in the Coliseum League race.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins vs. Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey

Hawkins with UCLA targets Jalen Hall, Joseph Lewis and Greg Johnson, tries to get back in the Coliseum League race when they meet Dorsey, led by San Diego State commit Parie Dedeaux.

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly vs. Long Beach (Calif.) Jordan

The Jackrabbits are led by five-star athlete Jack Jones who plays receiver and defensive back as well as 2017 linebacker Joshua Brown, Jayon's younger brother and 2018 safety Cameron McDonald, who UCLA offered last month. Utah commit Davir Hamilton, who has a UCLA offer, plays both ways for the Jackrabbits. 

Concord (Calif.) De La Salle vs. Union City (Calif.) James Logan

De La Salle features UCLA’s top interior line prospect, Boss Tagaloa as well as tight end target Devin Asiasi. The Spartans also boast versatile athlete Antoine Custer, who bolsters their running game. 

Rialto (Calif.) Carter vs. Fontana (Calif.) A.B. Miller

Carter, with UCLA verbal Lokeni Toailoa and his brother Leni Toailoa, one of UCLA's newest commit, try to make it four in a row when they take on A.B. Miller, who’s paced by BYU defensive end commit Freddy Livai.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral vs. North Hollywood (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake

Cathedral has safety Rhedi Short, one of UCLA's 2017 verbals, along with receiver Jamire Calvin and safety Elijah Blades.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian vs. Pasadena (Calif.) La Salle

Salesian has UCLA verbal Rahyme Johnson as well as 2017 recruit Deommodore Lenoir and they try to keep pace in the Angelus League race.

Westlake (Calif.) vs. Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure

Westlake brings in four-star receiver Theo Howard, who will announce his decision on Sunday, and the Warriors try to stay unbeaten in the Marmonte League.

Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West vs. Fresno (Calif.) Central

Clovis West and UCLA verbal Darian Owens as well as five-star linebacker Caleb Kelly take on crosstown foe Central, which has 2017 cornerback Jaylon Johnson, the younger brother of UCLA corner Johnny Johnson along with San Jose State defensive line commit Elijah Parks.

Temecula (Calif.) Great Oak vs. Murrieta (Calif.) Mesa

UCLA commit Demetric Felton  looks to continue his monster senior season and Great Oak meets Murrieta Mesa, which has USC commit Nathan Smith on their offensive line.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward vs. Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon

UCLA commit Breland Brandt will help Windward try to force a three-way tie for the Gold Coast-Valley league title when they take on Sierra Canyon.

Molson vs. Beauce-Appalaches (QC) in the playoffs. Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More and UCLA punter commit Bailey Raborn face Opelousas (La.). Nashville (Tenn.)
