Prospect Recap: Week Ten

Nov. 2 -- We look at how UCLA prospects did in week ten of the high school football season...

***Game of the Week:*** Broomfield (Colo.) Legacy vs. Boulder (Colo.) Fairview, 36-29

UCLA quarterback commit Matt Lynch ran for a 25-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter that turned out to be the go-ahead touchdown and Legacy stopped Fairview in the final seconds to win by a touchdown. Lynch was 17-for-28 for 244 yards and a touchdown pass and ran for the winning touchdown.

Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic def. Portland (Ore.) David Douglas, 45-13

UCLA commit Osa Odighizuwa had six tackles, two for loss and a sack in a loss to Central Catholic.

West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade def. Encino (Calif.) Crespi, 48-0

With Crespi missing UCLA verbal Jalen Starks, who was dismissed last month, the Celts offense couldn't get anything going and was shut out by Chaminade.  UCLA commit Dymond Lee was 9-for-14 for 126 yards and had a 7-yard run while sophomore four-star running back T.J. Pledger ran for 108 yards and four touchdowns in the blowout.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola def. Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame, 45-14

Loyola got 151 yards rushing from 2017 running back Drake Beasley, who UCLA offered last month, and Beasley ran for a touchdown. Stanford commit David Long had four catches for 110 yards and two touchdown receptions and two pass deflections. UCLA target Myles Bryant chipped in six tackles.

Gardena (Calif.) Serra def. Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany, 41-34

Serra defensive end Oluwole Betiku had nine tackles, five for loss and sacked Alemany quarterback Brevin White 4.5 times.  Bruin safety/receiver target Brandon Burton had 10 tackles, two pass deflections and a touchdown catch.

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly def. Long Beach (Calif.) Jordan, 53-9

The Jackrabbits were led by five-star athlete Jack Jones, who had five receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown and added a 25-yard run and Florida State quarterback commit Malik Henry was 14-for-22 for 214 yards and three touchdown passes. 

Concord (Calif.) De La Salle def. Union City (Calif.) James Logan, 57-14

De La Salle got a pair of tackles from key targets Boss Tagaloa and Devin Asiasi, who played just the first half while three-star athlete Antoine Custer had 200+ all-purpose yards in their rout.

Rialto (Calif.) Carter def. Fontana (Calif.) A.B. Miller, 55-20

Carter got a touchdown run from Bruin commit Lokeni Toailoa, who added 12 tackles, one for loss, forced a fumble and recovered two of them, in the win.  Fellow UCLA commit Leni Toailoa had five tackles, one for loss and broke up a pass.

Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure def. Westlake (Calif.), 31-28

Westlake and new UCLA commit Theo Howard dropped a close one to the Seraphs by three.  Howard had three catches for 31 yards before being knocked out of the game late in the first half after making a tackle.

American River (Calif.) College def. Sierra (Calif.) College, 47-22

New UCLA pledge Nick Terry had five tackles and two for loss in a blowout win over Sierra.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw and UCLA commit Marquis Lawson won after Los Angeles (Calif.) Locke forfeited.  Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral and 2017 safety commit Rhedi Short topped North Hollywood (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake, 13-12.  Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian and 2017 linebacker commit Rahyme Johnson beat Pasadena (Calif.) La Salle, 20-14.  Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West and UCLA verbal Darian Owens beat Fresno (Calif.) Central, 33-14. Temecula (Calif.) Great Oak was without UCLA commit Demetric Felton but still beat Murrieta (Calif.) Mesa, 29-10.  Chatsworth (Calif) Sierra Canyon beat Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward and UCLA pledge Breland Brandt, 41-0. Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue (QC) John Abbot College and UCLA kicker commit J.J. Molson topped Beauce-Appalaches (QC) 42-31 in the playoffs. Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty and UCLA linebacker commit Krys Barnes shutout Bakersfield (Calif.) Centennial, 49-0. Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More and UCLA punter commit Bailey Raborn blew out Opelousas (La.), 77-0. Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell Academy and UCLA tight end commit Jordan Wilson beat Nashville (Tenn.) Enworth, 23-21.  Hayward (Calif.) Moreau Catholic and long snapper commit Johnny Den Bleaker throttled Fremont (Calif.) Washington, 54-14. Covington (Ga.) Newton and UCLA 2017 linebacker commit Jaquan Henderson shutout Tucker (Ga.), 53-0.  Corona (Calif.) Centennial and UCLA receiver prospect Javon McKinley beat Corona (Calif.), 69-7. Fontana (Calif.) Summit and UCLA receiver prospect Damian Alloway beat Fontana (Calif.) Kaiser, 54-6.

La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat and UCLA commit Chris Gaston had a bye.

Season Complete:

Kapolei (Hawaii) and UCLA center commit Sean Auwae have completed their season
