Prospect Recap: Week Eleven

Nov. 9 -- We look at how UCLA prospects did in week eleven of the high school football season...

Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey def. Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw, 35-34

New UCLA offeree Nahjee Flowers and Dorsey held off Crenshaw and UCLA verbal Marquis Lawson by a point and clinch the No. 3 spot out of the Coliseum League.

Westlake (Calif.) Oaks Christian def. Westlake (Calif.), 52-29

Oaks clinched an unbeaten Marmonte League title with a 23-point win over Westlake.  New UCLA 2018 quarterback offeree Matt Corral was 14-for-19 for 312 yards and two touchdown passes and ran for 54 yards, running back Gil-Scott Jackson ran for 113 yards and four touchdowns and USC commit and UCLA target Michael Pittman had six catches for 195 yards and two touchdowns and ran a kickoff back 96-yards for a score, while having another called back.  Westlake was without UCLA commit Theo Howard, who was out with a concussion.

West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade def. Gardena (Calif.) Serra, 38-21

Chaminade quarterback/receiver Dymond Lee, a UCLA commit, was 23-for-33 for 278 yards and a touchdown and ran for 59 yards while sophomore four-star running back T.J. Pledger ran for 144 yards and three touchdowns to help Chaminade knock off Serra and earn a spot in the Pac-5 playoffs.  UCLA target Brandon Burton had seven tackles and a pass breakup and Oluwole Betiku had 10 tackles and a sack in the loss.

La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat def. Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola, 24-3

Bishop Amat got five tackles from UCLA commit Chris Gaston and their win coupled with Serra's loss helped the Lancers earn a share of the Mission League title and the No. 2 spot out of their league in the Pac-5 playoffs.

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly def. Long Beach (Calif.) Millikan, 70-3

Despite being forced to forfeit games because of an ineligble players, Poly took it out on Millikan, but will miss the playoffs for the first time in 30 years.  UCLA target Jack Jones had two catches for 71 yards, both going for scores and added an interception while 2017 linebacker Joshua Brown had six tackeles and a sack. 

Concord (Calif.) De La Salle def. San Ramon (Calif.) California, 56-0

De La Salle's defense, led by Boss Tagaloa, shut out CalHi in their final regular season game.  Tagaloa had two tackles and a sack while Devin Asiasi had four tackles and also caught a 33-yard touchdown pass in the rout.

Fontana (Calif.) A.B. Miller def. Rialto (Calif.) Carter, 28-15

The prep careers of Carter teammates and UCLA commits Lokeni Toailoa and Leni Toailoa came to an end with a loss to Redlands. Lokeni had 11 tackles and one for loss but was ejected for throwing a punch late in the game.  Leni had five tackles and recovered a fumble. 

Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral def. Santa Fe Springs (Calif.) St. Paul, 45-13

Cathedral won the Angelus League in the rout of St. Paul.  UCLA commit Rhedi Short had six tackles, broke up a pass and recovered a fumble for the Phantoms.

North Hollywood (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake def. Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian, 48-44

Harvard-Westlake ended the season of 2017 UCLA commit Rahyme Johnson and target Deommodore Lenoir with their four point win, and helped them earn a piece of the Angelus League title.

Clovis (Calif.) def. Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West, 20-12

New Idaho commit J.J. Wills, the son of former Bruin back Shawn Wills, had an interception that helped Clovis hold off Clovis West and UCLA verbal Darian Owens and earn a league title with a 20-12 victory.

Broomfield (Colo.) Legacy def. Boulder (Colo.), 38-14

UCLA quarterback commit Matt Lynch helped Legacy to their first playoff victory since 2007, throwing for 181 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 73 yards.

Murrieta (Calif.) Mesa def. Temecula (Calif.) Great Oak, 42-10

UCLA commit Demetric Felton was sidelined for the second straight week and Great Oak lost big in their final regular season game.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward def. Lancaster (Calif.) McAuliffe, 9-0

UCLA commit Breland Brandt led Windward to a shutout win in his final prep game.

Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty def. Bakersfield (Calif.), 44-21

Liberty and UCLA commit Krys Barnes won the Southwest Yosemite League outright with a blowout of Bakersfield.

Butte (Calif.) College def. American River (Calif.) College, 27-24

UCLA commit Nick Terry had five tackles and 1.5 for loss, but American River came up short against Butte.

Other Games:

Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue (QC) John Abbot College and UCLA kicker commit J.J. Molson lost to St. Jean (QC), 39-25 in the playoffs. Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More and UCLA punter commit Bailey Raborn beat Lafayette (La.) Northside, 29-0.  Hayward (Calif.) Moreau Catholic and long snapper commit Johnny Den Bleyker topped Fremont (Calif.) Irvington, 62-13. Covington (Ga.) Newton and UCLA 2017 linebacker commit Jaquan Henderson shutout Conyers (Ga.) Rockdale, 42-0. 

Bye Week

Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell Academy and UCLA tight end commit Jordan Wilson had a first round bye in the playoffs.

Season Complete:

Kapolei (Hawaii) and UCLA center commit Sean Auwae have completed their season.  Portland (Ore.) David Douglas and UCLA defensive line commit Osa Odighizuwa have completed their season. Encino (Calif.) Crespi and UCLA defensive end commit Marcus Moore and UCLA running back commit Jalen Starks have completed their season.
