Jackrabbit standout Jack Jones, a five-star prospect and the nation's top rated athlete, was back in College Station over the weekend to visit Texas A&M for the second time this year.
Jones took his official visit back to A&M back on (Oct. 3) and at the time, most felt he was just taking a visit to enjoy the whole college experience. The feeling with Jones has always been it will be very tough to get him out of Los Angeles with UCLA and USC being the like destinations for him.
Now that Jones has visited a second time on his own dime, it's probably a good time for people to start taking the Aggies seriously in this race.
"I loved it there," Jones said. "I had a great visit the first time around so I had to come back a second time to check things out again. I didn't really do or see anything new this time around, it was more of the same thing. Just being around the players and coaches and taking in the game atmosphere.
"I saw a few guys from back home that I didn't even know were going to be there like Wole (Oluwole Betiku) and Frank Martin. I really feel comfortable with the players and coaches, I click really well with all of them. The staff is great and has been recruiting me harder than anyone since the summer so that's a big reason why I have so much interest in them."
Jones knows a lot of people have doubts he would really leave home to play his college ball and that's fine with him.
"Signing Day is going to be crazy," Jones said. "I know what everyone is saying, that I won't leave Cali but I'm definitely looking at that as a real option and strong possibility, I think my decision could surprise a lot of people.
"Right now, I don't have any other trips in mind although I want to try and get out to Washington and I'm going to try and get to UCLA this weekend for their last home game. I'm sure I'll be at the USC-UCLA game as well and I'm still looking at both of those schools but I'm definitely feeling A&M right now."
