West Regional Football Recruiting Roundup

Nov. 30 -- Key news and notes from the West in Scout's weekly Regional Recruiting Roundup...

Alex Akingbulu - OT - Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne - Committed to UCLA

Akingbulu announced his commitment on Thanksgiving, choosing hometown UCLA over California and Utah.  The three-star also had offers from Michigan and Tennessee, but was a heavy Pac-12 lean the whole time.  He'll join his sister, a student at UCLA, in Westwood, but before that, he has the Gauchos in the CIF-City Section semifinals.

Michael Pittman - WR - Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian

In the last two weeks, Pittman has been selected to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, fulfilling a lifelong dream, been named a finalist for the U.S. Army National Player of the Year and had 18 receptions for 386 yards and five touchdowns in Oaks' season-ending loss to Bishop Amat. The four-star Scout 100 prospect is still committed to USC, but schools are still trying with the California Player of the Year candidate.

Chaz Ah You - DB - Saratoga Springs (Utah) Westlake - 2017

Ah You is the West's top safety prospect for the 2017 class and he added a big offer he'd been coveting for a while from Oregon.  Ah You visited Oregon and Oregon State last weekend and was given the offer from the Ducks on his trip.  The offer from the Ducks was the 15th for the Scout 100 prospect.

Kevin Atkins - DE - Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta

Atkins added an offer from Fresno State this week and the Bulldogs joined Colorado State, Illinois, Memphis and San Diego State in offering the 6-3, 260-pounder.  Atkins has 98 tackles and nine sacks on the season and has Vista Murrieta in the CIF-SS semifinals.  He's setting himself up to be one of the prospects that Pac-12 schools start making a push for with the contact period beginning this weekend.

Sione Heimuli-Lund - ATH - Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton

The four-star athlete is visiting Stanford this weekend for an unofficial visit, with teammate Simi Fehoko, who's a commit to Stanford.  And Heimuli-Lund told Scout this week that he'll announce his commitment on Sunday. The Cardinal are in very good shape for him, as he's been a longtime lean to Stanford and will be coming off a trip.  BYU and Utah are still in the mix, but it would be a surprise if Stanford didn't get his verbal on Sunday.

National recruiting analyst Greg Biggins and Southwest regional analyst Jason Jewell contributed to the roundup.
