The Pac-12 All-Conference teams were announced today, and it wasn't a great showing for the Bruins, fresh off of a 8-4 regular season campaign. UCLA had just one player honored with a first-team all-conference selection this season in junior nose tackle Kenneth Clark.
The Bruins did have eight second-team all-conference selections in linebacker Deon Hollins, safeties Randall Goforth and Jaleel Wadood, running back Paul Perkins, receiver Thomas Duarte, offensive tackle Conor McDermott, center Jake Brendel, and placekicker Ka'imi Fairbairn. Of that group, you could probably make a case that Fairbairn should have been given the nod over Oregon kicker Aidan Schneider for the first team, since Fairbairn led the country in touchbacks and also kicked a 60-yard field goal this year (Schneider's longest make was 41 yards).
UCLA also had three honorable mention selections in wide receiver Jordan Payton, linebacker Aaron Wallace, and cornerback Marcus Rios. You could make a case that Wallace (third most sacks in the Pac-12) and Payton (third most receptions in the Pac-12) should have received more consideration for the second team, though obviously both positions had many viable candidates in the Pac-12.
Below are the complete list of players on the all-conference teams.
