Semper Fi Bowl: Breaking Down the Top Offensive Player for the West Squad

Dec. 29 -- The West team has several intriguing players worth watching this week. Here's our look at the top offensive players to keep your eye on.

The Quarterbacks:

Arizona State commit Dillon Sterling-Cole is a Scout 300 selection and the highest ranked QB in this group. He impressed us this past summer when he competed at the Elite 11 and The Opening and has a nice combination of size, arm strength and mobility.

Oregon commit Terry Wilson is another dual threat QB who can hurt a team with his arm and his legs and it will be fun to see the future Duck up close for the first time.

Zach Smith is a Baylor commit and a great fit in that system. He's a true pro-style QB with a quick release and an accurate arm. All three are talented and bring their own unique skill set to the table.

The Running Backs:

D'Vaughn Pennamon is a physical power-back with size and toughness. He's a downhill runner who catches the ball well out of the backfield and should be a load to deal with. He's a Mississippi commit and the highest rated 4-star RB outside of the Scout 300.

UCLA commit Demetric Felton will likely play more slot receiver than running back in college but he'll likely line up in the backfield in this game. Felton is an explosive athlete with some wiggle and hits top speed after just a few strides.

The Wide Receivers:

UCLA commit Theo Howard is the highest rated player in this game as the No. 49 player in the country. He's a deep threat who can get behind a defense and runs well after the catch. Fellow Bruin commit Darian Owens is a talented two-way player who could line up at receiver or safety. Offense is his first love but he might have even higher upside on defense.

Nebraska commit J.D. Spielman and Wisconsin commit A.J. Taylor round out the receiver corp and Tyler Johnson and Kyeler Burke are two-way standouts who could player receiver or defensive back in the game.

The Tight Ends:

Arizona State was able to steal tight end Jared Bubak out of Nebraska and he brings a nice size/skillset combination to the table. Clemson commit J.C. Chalk is a big target at 6-4, 235 pounds and catches the ball very cleanly.

The Offensive Line:

Stanford commit Henry Hattis leads a solid line. Hattis was recently bumped up in to the Scout 300 and is among the most talented tackle prospects in the nation. Sean Foster is another Scout 300 selection with a ton of ability. He recently de-committed from Minnesota and Purdue and Iowa State will get official visits.

Oregon commit Logan Bathke is another true tackle with nice size and athleticism and Texas commit Denzel Okafor is one of the top tackles in the Southwest with the body that could move inside in college if needed.

Arkansas commit Jake Heinrich is a Scout 300 selection and the No. 4 OG in the Midlands region. UCLA commit Mike Alves is a road grader at guard and is coming off a big senior season.

Recent Vanderbilt commit Sean Auwae, a true center, along with Oklahoma State commit Tyler Brown, Utah commit Johnny Maea and Northern Illinois commit Austin Warner round out the offensive line.
