Former USC Commit Keanu Saleapaga Opens Up His Recruitment

Jan. 6 -- La Mirada (Calif.) defensive lineman Keanu Saleapaga decided Monday night to de-commit from USC and will open up his recruitment...

Big defensive end Keanu Saleapaga committed to USC way back in June but has decided to part ways with the Trojans and sent out the following tweet on Monday.

According to La Mirada coach Mike Moschetti, several programs have already reached out and shown interest in Saleapaga.

"USC has a new staff now so it was a mutual thing," Moschetti said. "He's getting a ton of interest right now from schools all over the country.

"I've heard from OklahomaMississippi StateSouth CarolinaGeorgiaColorado and UCLA. He's in the process of setting a visit to South Carolina and UCLA is coming by the school as soon as the dead period is over."

Saleapaga had a strong senior season and helped lead the Matadores to a CIF and State Championship. He's a big, phsyical defensive end with a non-stop motor and plays with a ton of energy. He's still raw in some areas as he's relatively new to football but when you look at his size and athleticism, the upside is there.

"He's a great kid from a great family," Moschetti said. "He plays hard, he plays hurt, he does whatever we ask from him. He's working hard in the classroom and is going to be a full qualifier so everything will work out just fine for him."
