Running Back Prospect Jamal Floyd

He hasn't gotten much hype this spring and summer but Claremont running back Jamal Floyd is getting seriously recruiting -- including by UCLA. Here's the latest on him...

Running back prospect Jamal Floyd, 5-9, 190, Claremont (Calif.) High, (5-9, hasn't gotten much press this spring and summer, but he says he's getting quite a bit of recruiting attention.

He said he currently holds five scholarship offers, from UCLA, Colorado, Kansas State, Kansas and Wake Forest, while also hearing from most of the Pac-10.

"My top three are Colorado, UCLA and Oregon. Oregon hasn't offered yet, but I think they will after a couple of games."

Floyd is being recruited by UCLA running backs coach Eric Bieniemy, a person he watched growing up and whose history he knows. "I know Coach EB played in college and the NFL, so he has the experience and knows what it takes. He is real cool, I really like him."

Another person who is contributing to UCLA's cause is former Bruin linebacker Audie Attar, a former Claremont player, who is a frequent visitor to his alma mater. Floyd said, "Yeah, Audie talks to me, tells me to go to UCLA, and how I should be a Bruin."

Floyd rushed for 1,399 yards on 179 attempts as a junior, with 10 touchdownss, but is looking forward to even more as a senior. "We have a good squad coming back and we should do alright. I can't wait."

Floyd has a 2.5 GPA and is taking the SAT in fall.
