Junior combo forward Andre Rafus is at a new school this year and is making a big impact. Rafus has been shooting the ball extremely well, while also making some strides as a rebounder and with his ball handling. Now more and more recruiting interest is coming his way.
“I’ve been working on my handle and taking better shots and being a leader,” said Rafus. “I know I have to be a leader, and I am trying to be an example during practice.”
On the recruiting trail Rafus has had some of the best schools in the country coming in to see him.
“I’m hearing from a lot of schools,” noted Rafus. “UNLV, USC, Dayton, Missouri, Kansas, Syracuse, UCLA, St. John’s, Tennessee, Seton Hall. I have 23 offers. I have also been seen by Rick Pitino, Eddie Jordan, and a few others.”
The versatile forward did note two schools that he definitely wants to visit in the future.
“I definitely want to visit Kansas and UCLA,” said Rafus.
The one visit that Rafus has had a chance to make this year was to Madison Square Garden to watch St. John’s and Syracuse. St. John’s has prioritized Rafus in the 2017 class, and he liked what he saw at the game.
“It was a crazy game and I had a perfect seat right on the floor,” said Rafus. “It was a good atmosphere and I had a real good time.”
At the moment Rafus says he has absolutely no timeline for a decision, but he does know what he is looking for in a school.
“I am looking for a place where I can play right away and somewhere that lets me play inside and out and score in a variety of ways,” said Rafus.
