Scout Commitment Calls: Where We Think the Top Stars are Going

Jan. 29 -- Which schools will win the battle to sign the nation’s top uncommitted prospects? No one knows for sure, but Scout has an educated guess...

From the nation’s No. 249 prospect to No. 1, we make the call on where the last of the uncommitted players are headed.

Decision Date: Jan. 30

Scout Commitment Call: Wisconsin hosted him on a late official visit, but Texas, the school that has always stayed steady on his favorites list, is the team to beat.

Decision Date: Feb. 1

Scout Commitment Call: Nigel Knott has recently thought to have been an Alabama lean and, while he may end up there, his legacy status at Ole Miss paired with the Rebels having the final visit leading right into the decision have Mississippi's Hugh Freeze and company in a good spot. Knott's birthday is February 1, and he could be delivering the present within state lines.

Scout Commitment Call:  Fitzpatrick named a top four that included Indiana and Arizona, but really this race is down to Louisville and Nebraska. He visits the Cardinals, where he was once committed, on Jan 30. Going into the visit, Nebraska is the favorite but word is Louisville is gaining quickly, and this visit could move them back to the top of his list.

Scout Commitment Call:  Hamlin set a Feb. 1 decision date, which is the day after he returns home from Pittsburgh. Ohio State and Penn State are making strong pushes, but his high school is next to the Pitt campus, and that is where he will go.

Decision Date: Feb . 2

Scout Commitment Call: Arizona is making a late push and Florida State and USC are battling as well, but UCLA has been leading since the summer and that's where we see Burton signing.

Scout Commitment Call: Arizona, Arizona State and Nebraska are standing out for Jackson and this one is an extremely close call. Arizona State gets the final home visit and we're going to give them a slight edge here over Nebraska, but it's a coin toss.

Decision Date: Feb. 3 (National Signing Day)

Scout Commitment Call: Rashan Gary will announce Feb. 3 (tentatively 1 p.m. ET), and this looks like it is all Michigan. USC is making a strong push, and Ole Miss recruited him well, but ties with the coaching staff and players on the team give the Wolverines the biggest prize in the 2016 class.

Scout Commitment Call: Juarez has been a long time UCLA lean but Ole Miss and Alabama are closing fast. ‘Bama is especially pushing hard but we still feel it will be tough for Juarez to leave home and think he signs with the Bruins

Scout Commitment Call: Jones loved his visit to Texas A&M and Alabama but in the end, we don't see him leaving Southern California, and USC should land their third straight five-star from Poly.

Scout Commitment Call: Kelly is down to Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Oregon but it feels like an Irish-Sooner battle. He has gone back and forth and right now it's probably too close to call but just to take a stand, we'll say the Fighting Irish land him.

Scout Commitment Call: There are a lot of national programs battling for his signature, but Texas offers him the chance for immediate playing time and for a defensive-minded head coach.

Scout Commitment Call: He was a longtime Oregon commit, but now will decide between Oklahoma and Alabama on national signing day. This recruitment is a true toss-up right now. His father played basketball at OU and there is a lifetime bond with the Sooners, but the Crimson Tide program is the one we’ll predict where he inks.

Scout Commitment Call: We are taking Ole Miss in the SEC to come out on the top when the ink dries on Anderson’s letter of intent. Texas and LSU are making strong pushes, but the Rebels will have him on campus for his final official visit.

Scout Commitment Call: Asiasi was once a longtime USC lean but the Trojans are in a battle now. UCLA has made up a lot of ground and Michigan is rising fast as well. While we don't think Asiasi has an issue leaving home, we've heard his family wouldn't mind him staying closer to home and we'll go with UCLA in a come-from-behind win.

Scout Commitment Call: UCLA is the longtime favorite but Michigan gave the tackle a lot to think about following his recent visit. Washington is involved as well but we think the Bruins will hold on down the stretch.

Scout Commitment Call: It comes down to Alabama and Mississippi State for Davis.  He has been committed to Alabama on some level for 15 months, but the home-state Bulldogs had him on campus recently, and the odds are that he stays home and signs with Mississippi State

Scout Commitment Call: Pettigrew has dreamed of playing for LSU, but can the Tigers hold on to the talented tight end?  Florida and Texas are in the race with the Longhorns being LSU's biggest threat. But come February 3, it looks like Pettigrew will stay with the home-state school.

Scout Commitment Call: Florida picked up Taylor's commitment over the summer, but after taking over at Georgia, former Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart has offered and given him a lot to think about.  Smart has known Taylor for years now, and Georgia has a big need in the secondary, so the Bulldogs have a good shot to take this one away from the Gators.

Scout Commitment Call: Alabama will get the final visit this weekend but Michigan is the odds-on favorite. Watch out for USC – Murphy had a great visit there and the Trojans could be his top west coast option but the Wolverines is where we think he'll sign.

Scout Commitment Call: Tupai doesn't talk much to the media so it makes predicting where he'll end up pretty tough. What we do know is he visited USC and will check out Oklahoma this weekend. Utah is also involved and our guess is he decides to stay local and signs with the Utes

Scout Commitment Call: Alabama went into Georgia and took one of the top playmakers away from the in-state Bulldogs.  Since committing to the Crimson Tide, Simmons has visited, and remained in contact with, Georgia, but Alabama does not lose too many that they want.  Simmons is one of those, and he is likely to end up in Tuscaloosa.

Scout Commitment Call: This race looks to be over.  Jamal Couch initially committed to Florida State, but he decided he would rather play in the SEC, so he recently added his name to the Mississippi State commitment list.  Even when he was a Seminole, he was in contact with the Bulldogs.  It looks like Dan Mullen will get one of the more versatile jumbo-athletes in the South this recruiting cycle.
