Pitt, UCLA and Utah All Showing Interest in DB Quentin Lake

Feb. 18 -- Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei defensive back Quentin Lake had a strong showing at the B2G 7v7 tourney over the weekend and is easily among the biggest sleeper prospects out West...

One of the top defensive backs we saw over the weekend was Monarch corner Quentin Lake.

Lake is a big corner, pushing 6-2, but showed nice short area quickness, the ability to break and close on the ball and solid man on man cover skills.

Lake is advanced technique-wise, which isn't surprising as his father is former UCLA All-American and Pittsburgh Steelers pro-bowler Carnell Lake.

The younger Lake has a safety frame but moves around well enough to play corner and can play at the high BCS level. Add what he did in pads last season and there's no doubt the kid can play. In fact, it's one of the bigger mysteries out West that Lake is still waiting for his first scholarship offer to roll in.

Lake talked about what schools he's currently hearing from and where he'll visit this spring/summer.
