Wide receiver Jordan Payton had a good performance at the NFL Draft Combine last month and followed that up with another solid showing at UCLA Pro Day this week.
The former Bruin shared his thoughts on where he stands heading into the NFL Draft. Find the video above or below:
On what he wanted to show today:
I wanted to come out and run smooth routes. Being at the combine, I don’t know if you get to see what a guy’s true route running is. I thought I had a great day out here. Felt comfortable, felt light. Overall it was a great day and I accomplished what I wanted to get done.
On his combine numbers:
It felt great. There was a preconceived notion of what I’d run and it exceeded expectations. I ran really well at the combine, showed people I could run, and today I just wanted to take the day and express my route running.
On what teams are saying:
Every day you learn something new about your standing, but as far as specifics, I’ve heard second or third. You want to keep pushing. I’ve divided it into three phases, phase one, the Senior Bowl, phase two, the combine and phase three, the pro day, and you want to improve in every phase.
On how conversations have changed since the combine:
For one, I told everyone what I was going to run and I ran what I said I was going to run, on the dot. My agent was losing his mind, you don’t want to tell everyone what you’ll run and then not run it. But I was confident. Have the conversations changed? Im not so sure. But teams like me. I’m a team player.
