Pac-12 Schools Heaviest After 4-star OT Alijah Vera-Tucker

Mar. 17 -- Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O'Dowd four-star offensive tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker has offers from all over but the Pac-12 schools are recruiting him the hardest...

Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O'Dowd four-star offensive tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker (6-5, 290), is the top tackle prospect in Northern California in the 2017 class.

With double-digit offers and more schools talking with him, Vera-Tucker should be in the 20's by the time the spring evaluation period is over.

"Right now, schools like WashingtonOregonUSCCalifornia and UCLA are recruiting me the hardest," said Vera-Tucker.  "I have a lot of good choices.  I'm looking all around at national programs but the Pac-12 schools are recruiting me the heaviest."

Two schools that have had success at O'Dowd in the past few years, Washington and Oregon, are putting in extra work with Vera-Tucker.

"I'd say that Oregon and Washington are recruiting me the hardest," said Vera-Tucker.

Washington signed his teammate Camilo Eifler in February and his high school coach, Napolean Kaufman, was a star running back for the Huskies in the 1990's.

"Camilo and Coach are telling me to make my own decision, but they'll talk about Washington if I ask about them," said Vera-Tucker.  "I talk with Coach (Chris) Strausser and Coach Pete (Chris Petersen) all the time."

Oregon also is prioritizing Vera-Tucker.

"Coach (Steve) Greatwood is the main one recruiting me but I talk a lot with Coach (Mark) Helfrich," said Vera-Tucker.

The two Los Angeles schools are also trying to stay in the mix for Vera-Tucker.

"Coach (Neil) Callaway is who is recruiting me at USC mostly and at UCLA, I talk with Coach Angus (McClure) and Coach (Adrian) Klemm mostly," said Vera-Tucker.

Then there is hometown Cal, which has also emphasized the importance of keeping Vera-Tucker in the East Bay.

"With Cal, I have the whole staff recruiting me really," said Vera-Tucker.  "Coach (Sonny) Dykes talks with me a lot and then Coach (Brandon) Jones too, but really, it's the whole staff."

Meanwhile, from the national programs, a pair of Big Ten schools stay in steady contact with Vera-Tucker.

"Coach Jay Harbaugh and Coach (Tim) Drevno at Michigan are talking with me the most and Nebraska, Coach Cav (Mike Cavanaugh) is recruiting me pretty hard," said Vera-Tucker.

Vera-Tucker said a couple of SEC schools are talking with him regularly and he thinks one of them could offer soon.

"We'll see if one offers, but I've been talking a lot with South Carolina and Mississippi," said Vera-Tucker.

Vera-Tucker has already visited Arizona State, Washington, Oregon and Cal and he's planning to hit the road again soon.

"I want to get down to L.A. to see UCLA and USC," said Vera-Tucker.  "And I might get back up to Washington and Oregon and then I can go to Cal anytime."

Vera-Tucker was invited to the UnderArmour All-America Game this month but even then might be too soon for a decision.

"My goal is to decide before Signing Day, but I definitely want to take all my visits," said Vera-Tucker.

He'll be at The Opening Oakland regional.
