Newbury Park (Calif.) defensive back Marques Evans (6-0, 180) has a pair of Mountain West offers but the potential for more offers is there for the three-star.
"Nevada and Hawaii have offered," said Evans. "And I'm close to an offer from San Diego State and Fresno State and close to getting one from Nebraska. And I'm actually talking to Coach Meat (Demetrice Martin) at UCLA and Coach (Tony) Dews at Arizona. They're both going to come and watch me in the spring."
UCLA is a school that Evans has loved favored and he has a tie to Martin.
"My dad and Coach Meat played together at Muir (in Pasadena)," said Evans. "If UCLA offered, I would probably call my mom and commit in the next hour. No doubt, UCLA is my dream school. I've always watched them. I'm a Pac-12 kind of dude."
Aside from the Bruins, several other schools plan to watch Evans workout in the spring and with his teammate Cameron Rising, a four-star quarterback in the 2018 class attracting coaches, he knows there will be plenty of eyeballs on him.
"Cameron has been having so many coaches out the last couple of years and he deserves the opportunity, so it will be nice that when they come to watch him, I'll get to work out," said Evans.
Evans said schools like him in the secondary and his versatility will be a plus.
"Most schools actually like me as a safety, but some want me to come down and cover in the slot," said Evans.
Evans said aside from an offer from the Bruins, he doesn't anticipate making an early decision.
"I would like to take my time and take my visits," said Evans. "I'm not in a rush to make any decision."
Evans will be at The Opening Oakland regional and is playing in the Passing Down 7v7 SoCal Regional this weekend with ProWay.
