Mar. 24 -- Scout takes a look at the top ten safeties in the West in the 2017 class before the spring evaluation period...

1. Chaz Ah You, Provo (Utah) Timpview

The top skill prospect in the state of Utah, Ah You has great bloodlines and over 20 offers to choose from.

2. Brandon McKinney, Orange (Calif.) Lutheran

McKinney is an athletic safety, loves to hit and is a top target of a number of schools.

3. Bubba Bolden, Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman

The early commitment to USC anchored the secondary for the 2015 Scout National Champions.

4. Isaiah Pola-Mao, Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe

Pola-Mao has plenty of position versatility and could end up growing into an outside linebacker in college.

5. K.J. Jarrell, Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro

Jarrell is one of the best athletes in the state of Arizona and is well into double-digits for offers.

6. Trajon Cotton, Sacramento (Calif.) Inderkum

The top defensive back in Northern California, Cotton is a cornerback by trade but can also play safety at a high level.

7. Rhedi Short, Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral

Short gave an early pledge to hometown UCLA but plenty of other schools are still trying with him.

8. Josh Talbott, Long Beach (Calif.) Poly

Talbott was a key part of one of the best secondaries in the West last fall.

9. Scott Young, La Mesa (Calif.) Helix

The top safety in San Diego, Young is blossoming into one of the best overall in all the West.

10. Nick Pickett, Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian

Overshadowed on his own defense by a pair or Scout 300 prospects, Pickett is still a gifted prospect on his own.
