Jayon Brown Talks UCLA First Spring Practice

Mar. 30 -- One of UCLA's defensive captains spoke to the media after the first practice of the spring...

Jayon Brown caught up with reporters following UCLA's first spring practice, touching on the differences in the new defense and what his expectations are.

Check out the video below:

On what they tried to accomplish on the first day:

Getting everyone comfortable, getting the cobwebs out and getting everyone in game shape. It was a good first day. We have some things to fix but it was a great day.

On if he likes the defensive changes:

I like the different things. It’s working good. We’ll be more sturdy against the run. It showed today.

On how the changes affect the linebackers:

Not much of a difference for us. You just have to know where to be. But not much of a big change.

On the comfort level with Tom Bradley:

He knows us better, we know him better, he knows what to expect from us and what kinds of situation to put us in. We have more of a trust with each other.

On his first spring with the same defensive coordinator:

Yeah, that’s good to have.

On having starting experience under his belt:

Its a good feeling. Coming back as one of the captains on the defense, everyone is looking to me and Eli and the other returning starters. We have to keep the young guys accountable and be on point.

On if any young guys stood out:

Its the first day, we’ll need a couple more days of practice to see who stands out but everyone did good today.
