Although just a sophomore, T.J. Pledger is already one of the top backs in the west region.
The athlete burst on to the scene as a freshman and hasn't slowed down. He has a nice combination of speed, elusiveness, the ability to make people miss in the open field and is a more powerful runner than given credit for.
Pledger has double digit offers from schools all over the region and beyond including the Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, Tennessee Volunteers, USC Trojans and Washington Huskies, to name a few.
Over the weekend, Pledger visited the UCLA Bruins and the athlete picked up his latest offer.
"I've been waiting on this one for a while so I'm really excited," Pledger said. "I had heard they only wanted bigger running backs but I had a long talk with Coach Tui and Coach Mora and I like what they have planned for the future and for me.
"When they offered, they said they want to make this happen and feel I fit in really well with the program. They said they love my game, my explosiveness and how hard I run as well as my ability to make plays out of the backfield. I have real interest for sure and the coaches told me they wouldn't have offered unless they feel I can be an impact player in their program so I'm definitely excited about this."
Pledger plans to visit the Huskies April 23 for their Spring Game and also hopes to get out to see the Buckeyes sometime this summer as well. But the UCLA offer was certainly a big one.
"I just love the vibe of the team and the coaching staff," Pledger said. "Plus, it's so close to home. After the visit, I'm excited for the future."
