Sears has been a pretty hot commodity on the recruiting trail this spring, with offers pouring in from a variety of Pac-12 schools as well as several national programs.
It was thought, though, that Sears coveted a UCLA offer after the Bruins began recruiting him this spring. UCLA had held off, though, and appeared to be waiting on some definitive sign from Tagovailoa.
Sears is a very talented athlete who performed very well in the SPARQ training at the Nike Camp in February. He didn't throw particularly well that day, but we learned later that he was nursing a sore back that kept him from following through on his throws.
While Sears might not make an immediate decision, the thinking going into this month was that if the Bruins offered, UCLA would be at or near the top for the three-star quarterback.
We'll have more from Sears on the offer soon.
