NFL Draft Shows Scout's Ratings Were Spot-On

May 2 -- Scout enjoys the highest-ever hit rate with its high school evaluations of this year's top draft picks...

<p>Every day, we evaluate athletes here at Scout, but periodically we take time to evaluate ourselves.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The NFL Draft provides an excellent opportunity each year to assess our past high school <a href="">prospect rankings</a>. And judging from the top draft selections in 2016,&nbsp;it's clear Scout's team of recruiting analysts deserve&nbsp;a 5-star rating.</p>

<p>Here's how Scout rated the 31 first-round draftees as high school seniors:</p>

<p><img title="Scout NFL Draft Rankings" height="155" width="560" src="" alt="" data-fid="128751" data-media-element="1" /></p>

<p>We didn't hit on everyone.&nbsp;Every year there will be out-of-the-blue&nbsp;success stories like Conklin (who was a walk-on, as was Doctson) and Wentz (who was an FCS guy.)</p>

<p>Twenty-two of the 31 first round picks were rated at least a four star by Scout. Not bad, considering there were five times as many three- and two-star prospects.</p>

<p>Our hit rate on&nbsp;the NFL's elite draftees&nbsp;was higher than ever, and it could've been even better: Medical concerns kept <a data-type="Player" data-key="8469540" class="scout-wire-card" href="">Jaylon Smith</a>&nbsp;(5-star), <a data-type="Player" data-key="8472436" class="scout-wire-card" href="">Myles Jack</a>&nbsp;(4-star) and <a data-type="Player" data-key="8593231" class="scout-wire-card" href="">Reggie Ragland</a>&nbsp;(5-star) out of the first round.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Five-stars <a data-type="Player" data-key="9642872" class="scout-wire-card" href="">Noah Spence</a>, <a data-type="Player" data-key="8592813" class="scout-wire-card" href="">A'Shawn Robinson</a>, Smith, Ragland, <a data-type="Player" data-key="10404563" class="scout-wire-card" href="">Derrick Henry</a>, <a data-type="Player" data-key="8590619" class="scout-wire-card" href="">Chris Jones</a>, <a data-type="Player" data-key="8696773" class="scout-wire-card" href="">Vonn Bell</a>, <a data-type="Player" data-key="8420088" class="scout-wire-card" href="">Su'a Cravens</a>. <a data-type="Player" data-key="8590634" class="scout-wire-card" href="">Kendall Fuller</a>&nbsp;and four-stars <a data-type="Player" data-key="8698646" class="scout-wire-card" href="">Hunter Henry</a>, <a data-type="Player" data-key="8590618" class="scout-wire-card" href="">Tyler Boyd</a>, <a data-type="Player" data-key="8776288" class="scout-wire-card" href="">Jihad Ward</a>&nbsp;and others&nbsp;were second-day picks.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Some other highlights:</p>

<li><span style="line-height: 1.4em;">Jared Goff was a four-star despite having only 3 offers</span></li>

<li><span style="line-height: 1.4em;">We were the ONLY site to have Joey Bosa as a 5-star</span></li>

<li><span style="line-height: 1.4em;">We were the ONLY site to have Darron Lee as a 4-star</span></li>

<li><span style="line-height: 1.4em;">ONLY site to have Josh Garnett as a 5-star</span></li>

<li><span style="line-height: 1.4em;">Had Ryan Kelly as a 4-star&nbsp;(others rated him as a 3-star)</span></li>

<li><span style="line-height: 1.4em;">Germain Ifedi as a 4-star&nbsp;</span><span style="line-height: 15.4px;">(others rated him as a 3-star)</span></li>

<p>At Scout we know&nbsp;our recruiting experts are the best in the business, but it's always gratifying to see hard data that backs up that claim.</p>
