Aliki Vimahi was one of the surprises of the Oakland Opening Regional Camp.
He had a strong showing all day long and earned a spot among the five best defensive linemen in the camp when the Nike staff matched 'best on best' at the end of the event.
There's a lot to like about him and there's some definite upside there. He has a great frame than can hold plenty of weight as he matures physically in a few years. He plays on the edge right now and could fit in any scheme or even grow and move inside if needed.
Vimahi is sitting on nine total offers right now but said the BYU Cougars, Colorado Buffaloes, Hawaii Warriors, Oregon State Beavers and Washington State Cougars are the schools currently recruiting him the hardest. He plans to take several visits over the spring and summer and mentioned he’ll check out Cal, Stanford, UCLA and USC on a Cali swing and then head to Utah to see BYU, Utah and Utah State later on as well.
