Tate Martell made headlines earlier this spring when he backed off his commitment to Texas A&M and the No. 1-rated quarterback in the 2017 class continued to narrow his scope Friday, naming a top six ahead of the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles.
The five-star prospect from Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman is down to California, Colorado, Ohio State, UCLA, USC and West Virginia, with a plan to take all five official visits this coming season before announcing a decision and enrolling early.
Martell was previously committed to the Aggies and Washington, but coaching changes on both staffs led to him looking elsewhere.
Bruins assistant Marques Tuiasosopo saw Martell throw at Bishop Gorman a couple weeks ago, and there is a possibility that Martell will unofficially visit UCLA this month.
