Scout's July Premium Recruiting Scoop

June 30 -- Scout's Inside Recruiting Scoop is the latest on key targets such as Addison Gumbs, Anthony McFarland, Robert Beal and Drew Singleton among other big topics in the month of July...

Crosstown Battle for Two Top West Prospects?

Roseville (Calif.) tight end Jimmy Jaggers has visited a number of schools this spring, but it's looking more and more like a USC-UCLA battle for the four-star.  And the feeling right now is that the Trojans are in a good spot to land his commitment.

Hayward (Calif.) Stellar Prep linebacker Addison Gumbs is the top outside linebacker in the West.  And he too has taken several trips during the spring.  But it’s also looking like an L.A. battle for the four-star, but UCLA is the feeling.

Four Officials Set for Top 5 Running Back

Anthony McFarland, the No. 5 running back in the nation, said he will make official visits to Miami, Texas A&M Aggies, Maryland, and Alabama, where he will be for the Iron Bowl in late November against Auburn. McFarland said he will make another official visit as well, but he is tring to settle on a fifth school.

However, keep a close eye on Miami. The Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha standout has a strong relationship with coach Mark Richt, who was recruiting him to Georgia, and he likes the academics and the way the Hurricanes plan to play on offense.
Which Teams Have Inside Track for 4-Star ATH?
Markquese Bell, a four-star athlete from Bridgeton (N.J.) High, released a top 13 recently, but there are a few schools really on the inside with Bell. He just made a visit to Clemson, which is significant, but Florida, Michigan, Ohio State and Rutgers are schools he speaks with regularly and all four are doing well with Bell. During a spring visit to Michigan, there was an undercurrent of talk he could commit there. At the very least, the Wolverines are in the thick of it, and right now it could be a Michigan vs. Rutgers battle.
Another Michigan-Clemson Battle for Paramus' Best?
Paramus (N.J.) Catholic Scout 100 linebacker Drew Singleton remains open and he plans on making a lot of visits (he was at Pitt over the weekend), but a few schools are distancing themselves from the others. Michigan remains the anticipated destination, but Clemson is making a very strong push. In fact, the Tigers nearly came in late and landed former teammate Rashan Gary, the No. 1 player in the 2016 class, and they should be not counted out here.
More Than Four Standing Out For 4-Star WR
The race continues to heat up for 4-star wide receiver K.J. Hamler, who recently transferred to IMG Academy from Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's. Hamler reported that Oregon, Tennessee, Arizona and Iowa State are the four schools standing out for him. That does not include Penn State and Michigan State, two schools many considered to be high in the running for him. Hamler recently visited MSU, so don't be surprised if both of those programs still remain in the hunt.
An Inside Edge for Midwest's Hottest Prospect
One of the Midwest's hottest prospects this month has been Oliver Martin, a wide receiver from Iowa City West. Wisconsin, Michigan State, Minnesota and Iowa have all offered in the last two weeks. While the Hawkeyes are the in-state school, word is, Michigan State may have an advantage because he played travel baseball and football with Rocky Lombardi, the Spartans' quarterback commit and fellow Iowan.
Team To Beat For Kentucky Decommit
After recently decommitting from Kentucky, Center Grove (Ind.) four-star athlete Russ Yeast promptly added another SEC offer from Auburn. Right now, intel suggests the Tigers are the team to beat moving forward for Yeast, who could play cornerback or wide receiver at the next level.
Decision coming for 4-Star DE?
There has been a lot of chatter around Scout 100 defensive end Robert Beal since he cancelled his visit to Notre Dame June 18.  Alabama, Florida State and Georgia are considered the front-runners for the four star out of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy.  A decision could come sooner rather than later, but he is not saying much.  The Bulldogs have been trending since he visited Athens (Ga.) early in June.
Michigan Closing In On Florida OT
Michigan is having some success in the south this cycle and they are likely not done. Kai-Leon Herbert is a top offensive tackle out of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage and he recently was in Ann Arbor for a visit — things went very well.  The Wolverines have made a big move here, with some seeing UM as the leader.  The Florida Gators could still be tough to beat, but Michigan has made this race much closer than it was.
