SCOUT:

Scout.com here at Battle at the Beach. We’re with Jaiden Woodbey—St. John Bosco, class of 2018. Four-star safety. Now, Jaiden, you’ve been competing here at the Battle of the Beach today. What would you say of the competition today?

Jaiden Woodbey:

It’s very tough. Everybody’s talented. No matter who they are, you know, they’re giving this their best shot, so I feel like it’s a great opportunity.

SCOUT:

So Jaiden, you’re one of the highest-recruited safeties in the country. Just wondering, you know, there’s been a rumor that you’ve reduced your list to 12 teams. Can you just list off some of the teams that are high on the list that you’re looking at?

Jaiden Woodbey:

Ohio State, USC, UCLA, ‘Bama, Notre Dame…

SCOUT:

Out of some of the major schools, are any of those really sticking out to you?

Jaiden Woodbey:

Not at the moment. You know, everybody’s sticking out. They’re all really good programs, so I plan to take visits there to see how the coaches are and the atmospheres.

SCOUT:

Does their performance during the 2016-2017 season have anything to do with your selection?

Jaiden Woodbey:

Yeah, that’s a yes. You know, this year and next year, because I still have two more years left. So I gotta see how it all turns out.

SCOUT:

And Jaiden, do you have any upcoming visits planned for any of the schools that you mentioned?

Jaiden Woodbey:

Next week I think I’m taking a visit to Washington. And in two weeks I’m taking a visit to Ohio State.

SCOUT:

Does that fact that Washington has produced some pretty good secondary talent—you know, like Shaq Thompson, Budda Baker, Sidney Jones, who’s probably going to go in the draft here coming up—have anything to do with your recruiting?

Jaiden Woodbey:

Just want to get to know the coaches, you know, and see their style of play and if I fit their style of play.

SCOUT:

Do you have a definitive date, you know, that you’re kind of looking at maybe setting where you’re going to go to school?

Jaiden Woodbey:

Not really. Not anymore.
